The lift definitely prevents you from sticking your fingers in a hot toaster. Evenly toasts. The darker options are pretty dark and will not be used in my house. Will likely only use the first 2-3 out of 5 options. Setting are consistent on both sides.

We love how much capacity it has as well as how it has individual toasting features. I have never had a Kitchenaid appliance that wasn't worth spending the money. They always stand the test of time.

Once I got the number right for the color of our toast, we are using it all the time for bagels, toast, and English muffins. Although a little pricey for a toaster I would buy it again. Just recently bought a stand mixer and blender and am 100% satisfied with all. Judy

Lift lever broke on kmt4115 toaster that we have loved for years. Searched Kitchenaid site and the only replacement lift lever is for another model. Tried doing "chat" on Kitchenaid site and chat was both worthless and infuriating. Thinking of replacing entire toaster With Another Brand.

I had even purchased a similar product but it didn't toast evenly and mostly made of a flimsy plastic. I was not impressed so I decided to try this kitchen aid product and am glad that I did.
