Lasted me 10 years!
I loved having one purchase I got before I got married and it lasted 10 years. I ran out last week and the first thing my wife did was go get another roll strait away. One problem is there is no instructions on how to prepare it for use. Here is what I put together: Step 1: Punch out the center piece. You will see a serrated Metal Piece which will be pushed to the front edge of the box. Step 2: Cut out the front edge of the box across the entire length. Step 3: Push down into the box toward the front edge the serrated metal piece until it protrudes out of the front edge you just cut. It will stick out about ½ inch. Step 4: Find the start of the roll and pull it out. It is ready to be pulled and cut with the serrated metal piece.
DON'T BUY THIS
I returned mine because there was no way to get it to work properly plus the wrap tears easily. Keep in mind I was told once by a Sam's Club employee when I was fighting to get a shopping cart free from the herd: 'I admire your determination. Most people would've given up by now.' (and he proceeded to help me.) So it's not for lack of trying in regards to this Daily Chef wrap. It's been several years since we bought the big wrap roll from Sam's. We used to buy the 'Sam's generic' brand when it was in a green box (not Daily Chef which is in a blue & orange box) and it was all we used every single day. Since Sam's has changed to Daily Chef it's a disaster. To get the roll started you have to try to wedge your fingers in there & cut it with a utility knife. Then try to find the start of the thing through the two inch opening reaching down about three inches next to the sharp serrated edge. Each time the roll goes around it breaks off where you cut it with the utility knife & so you have to go around and around each time trying to find the end. The film is so paper thin it wants to tear very easily leaving you with ends that are bulding up with unused 'wrap' and making subsequent pieces tear even closer to the center of the wrap. This is just the beginning. The serrated teeth won't stand up unless you tear the box open, make the opening wider and longer - but if you make it wider be careful how you do it because the plastic ends that protrude out of the end of the serrated edge need something to hold it up otherwise it just flops back down into the box and you're left with nothing to cut with. I did everything I could think of to get this to work. But what's the point in getting the box set up properly only to find the wrap tears off before you are done with your 12 x 14 piece you need? I took my box into Sam's & had someone at Customer Service try to use it. He got it to 'work' sort of... but the piece he managed to tear off was about 8 inches long - too short for the real world. I happened to be on the ball yesterday & asked if he could duplicate that with a longer piece. Once he got anywhere near what would be a piece to cover any nice sized pan it was tearing off, falling down into the box (not staying up where you could grab it easily - making you hunt for the end every single time you want to use it...) - he was really nice & said they could take it back. I decided it was not worth fighting with & took him up on his offer. Got a gift card & used it on some other fabulous Sam's products. I love Sam's. We are two people & buy there all the time but Daily Chef wrap is a DUD.
Inferior to what I've purchased in the past
I've been buying this product for 30 years or more--but this latest box is inferior to the ones I've had in the past. The cling wrap is so thin that it tears on the left or right side so that you have to go back and untangle the film--and you end up tossing a good amount of it. The only way to pull it out is to very carefully grab the film by the left and right sides before pulling it out. And even then I have a problem
Horrible roll
Normally we have issues with the beginning and ending of the roll of this film which we have dealt with for years of purchasing this product. However this whole roll is an issue, it appears all the edges are stuck to where no film runs off the roll without catching.
NOT professional quality
This product is a fairly good buy for the money, but in all the rolls we've purchased at Sams (MANY), they ALL have a problem of "snagging" and tearing from the edge. Ever try to peel the film back so it can be unrolled? It's really a pain, especially when in a hurry - and who in food service isn't in a constant rush? This film is perhaps the thinnest I've ever come across, as well - still functional, though. The Reynold's product that Sam's used to carry was far superior product.
horrible quality
I’ve been using this plastic wrap for 14 years now. It used to be great quality. Over the last 2-3 years the quality went down hill so much that I am looking for a different source. The plastic is not as clingy as it used to be, sometimes not at all. It constantly hits snags on the side of the roll that causes the film to tear, so you have to take it out of the box to remove the bad parts and assemble again, just to do it 5 min later again. Now on the last 3 boxes the knifes are pretty much doll and we have to tear the film instead of cutting it. This is ridiculous. I do not recommend this product!.
Quality has all but gone away
Just bought a new box of film (our last one lasted us about 3 years if not longer). We increased from the 12" to the 18" to cover wider bowls/dishes. Shocked to see such poor quality now. The box is flimsy (and upon bringing it into the house and opening it porperly to get the film started through the slit (which we used a box cutter to ensure only the front part of the opening would be utilized) I have had to duct tape the sides so they hold shut.) The super sharp metal cutter is on a worthless piece of extra tall cardboard and has slid off the top of the cardboard because it got stuck on the film (not crimped enough?) during the second cut. WHY NO SLIDE CUTTER? (Probably will keep bandaids nearby for when i inevitably cut a knuckle on this. Lol The film itself is NOT resistant to tears...its embarrassingly thin. Havent tried actually sealing any dishes yet, since we just got it home and havent made dinner yet, so I cant speak to that, but can say I am not expecting the great Members Mark quality we are used to for this one now. Won't buy it again, and will warn all friends/family/strangers against buying it until I see a big change in the reviews turning back to praises
Food service film roll 3000 fr
This product has continued to get worse over the years. I thought it was just one bad box, but my recent purchase and all the other reviews, proves that the quality is horrible. I can't get more than a few sheets cut before it starts to stick to the roll and tear at the roll, providing a partial sheet. I will not purchase this again.
Roll Gets Hung Up, Need the Cutter Slide
The cutter slide really makes this easier to use. Most foodservice wraps come with this and I don't understand why Sam's doesn't have it. The plastic splits near the edge of the roll and gets hung up so that you have to use a knife to clean it up. I won't buy this again. The reviews are consistently bad for this and I wonder if Sam's Club reads them.
Quality changed
I have used this product for a few years in my business, it has been good, but recently the process, thickness, or material changed and it tears too easily, even leaving fragments in wrapped food. I have had to switch brands to get acceptable quality
