The packaging states that it weighs 2.5 pounds, and it is very easy to lift and manage. The pin is not stiff to pull out. I was able to take the pin out and return it to the locking position with ease. I like that this extinguisher is rated for various uses, electrical fires, trash fires, wood fires, and liquid chemical fires. For me, this takes the guess work out of the way, so that when I do need to use it I will not need to waste precious time by making sure I have the correct extinguisher to put out the correct fire. This compact extinguisher has been great to have in my car. I have a special designated space in my minivan where I now keep this extinguisher, along with all my other emergency road-side gear. So my review is based on the brand of Kidde fire extinguishers that I have used in the past. If you want a good fire extinguisher for your home the Kidde brand is a good brand. And also, make sure that you chose the right type for the type of fire that you may encounter. Remember that all fire extinguishers are not the same and will not work on any kind of fire. So the Kidde 1A10BC Basic Use Fire Extinguisher, 2.5 lbs is a good extinguisher for using in the home. The class letters ABC indicate that the extinguisher can be used on three types of typical fires that can occur in the home. A is for normal trash, wood or paper that may catch on fire. The B C means that the extinguisher can be used on liquids and gases. This does not mean grease fires. If you think you might need an extinguisher for your stove you would look for a class F extinguisher that is for cooking oil fires. The class ABC will give you better coverage for any type of fire. I would recommend that every home have a fire extinguisher and make sure you have the right class for your needs.

Purchased the extinguisher as a gift for my son-in-law. When he opened the box it was full of white powder. The extinguisher's pin was out and it was fully discharged showing as empty. I'm not sure how to return as I ordered it on line. Very disappointed.

The fire extinguisher is good for wood, liquids, and electrical according to the box. This fire extinguisher is warrantied for 6 years and they do last a super long time (in my opinion). Kidde Fire Extinguishers gives me peace of mind now. I love the brand and I love how long they last as well. This Kidde Fire Extinguisher has a metal pin and aluminum body and comes with a bracket that has two screws that can mount to any wall or place that will accept the screws. The extinguisher itself just sits freely on the bracket so it comes off fast in an emergency. You can feel the quality of the extinguisher itself just by holding it and seeing the metal handles and the really nice easy to see pressure gauge on it. Overall: Super High Quality in my opinion and they last a really long time! They come with a 6-year limited warranty which should say all you need to know about the quality! I love the fire extinguishers that Kidde puts out and I would never use another brand. The fire extinguisher is super reliable and easy to mount just about anywhere out of the way. Got the 2 pack. Shipping was fast, price was as cheap as I've seen anywhere, and I opened both boxes and the products were pretty much as they looked like on the site. These extinguishers were lighter and smaller than I was used to as well. Definitely a good thing, because smaller people like my wife can use it easily, and it can fit in convenient spaces like my kitchen cabinet. Will definitely be buying more in the future!

Measures 13 inches high so it is easily stored where you might need it. Information on the box says it fights wood, paint, flammable liquids and energized electrical equipment fires. It's a one-time use disposable extinguisher. Instructions say to replace after first use or after 12 years. We live in an area with a volunteer fire department and the response time is at least 20-25 minutes so we have these throughout the house. The national fire protection association recommends a minimum of two extinguishers like this on each level of your home.

We haven't used it yet, thankfully, but I'm sure it will come in handy if we ever need it. It says it's good for one use or for 12 years: on wood, paper, fabrics, electronics and flammable liquids.

They arrived with both canisters still full (in the green). Both of the fire extinguishers had the pins missing (they were in the bottom of the box) It looked like the pins were to protect it from being accidentally discharged, but the safety zip tie was still in tact and the canisters looked to be fine. I haven't had to use them so hopefully they will be fine.
