Thick, absorbent, and soft material. We never have rashes, and no urine leaks, only one major blow out so far (hey it happens). The wetness indicator is great and always accurate. Although the diapers well control odor, the diapers themselves still have a strong smell to me which i personally dislike. We're not very picky with diaper brands in our home - we usually buy whatever is on sale between 3 or 4 different brands, however i notice myself always looking at Pampers first.
