This was likely caused by it being exposed to moisture or high temperatures, either when it was being shipped or in the store, or at home. To prevent the powder from becoming lumpy or hardened, avoid storing it in areas that are likely to become warm or damp, such as under the sink or near hot water pipes. The powder will still give you the performance you expect if it is lumpy/hardened. We recommend breaking up the lumps prior to using to be sure it dissolves entirely in the wash.
