Great Buy for Price

Hello everyone I purchased this register on 6/29/2016 at the Salisbury, MD Club and I like others like to read the reviews just to get everyone's opinions before a purchase. When I got the register home I read the manual and was a little confused because of how the diagram showed the receipt paper to be inserted. Others are right there is no spindle for the paper, you have to buy one or create one, my partner created one. You do have to pull the black piece back with the arrows in order to get the thermal paper in, that was the only tricky part to figure out. But after that the programming was very easy and this machine is perfect for a small, just starting up business. Lastly, you might also want to bolt it down due to the force of the drawer that comes out after a transaction

im just a little confused

I fid the set up to be simple and fair. I love how light weight it is too. However I have followed​the steps precisely and can not figure out how to get the taxes to show up on the receipt. Am I supposed to hit a certain button after getting done with every transaction to make it add the tax rate on ? I'm so confused.

Poorly made and hard to program

I purchased this Royal brand model because they've been a reliable manufacturer in the past, however, they feel very short with this model. Hard to program and keep it, the drawer is very cheap plastic and the manual drawer opener is very difficult to get too. Not recommended.

piece of junk

Do not waste your time buying this piece of junk. If you follow the Quick start in the instruction manual the register will not do anything. The rest of the instruction manual is very confusing. In the past I have not had any problem with Royal cash registers but this is the worst register I have ever owned.

Hate this machine

The instructions are confusing. It only prints out a report showing the totals of each department you have set up. You can not see the details of what is in that total. The only way you can see what makes up the total for a department is to keep all of the receipts and not give the customer a receipt. Use lots of paper. Certainly not made for good bookkeeping. I am taking it back.

Cash registers like this should not be manufacture

Most horrible cash register I can imagine. Does not journal. Does not spool paper. Only customer receipt. No slot in front of drawer to insert credit card slips.

5 in less than a year

The reason why this register is a best seller is because the amount of times a business has to replace this it. My first 2 years open I only had 1 machine. Then over the last 12 months I've bought 5. I have 2 under warranty through Sam's Club but that warranty starts after the 1st year. Royal has transferred me to many people trying to fix the issue but does nothing. They simply ask me to unplug for 20 minutes and see if it works- even the managers. Although it will take time and money to retrain everyone on a new machine I am willing to do that so I will never have to deal with Royal again.
