So far so good - new purchase.

Purchased this generator (iGen111000DFc) the end of June 2024. I can only comment on pre-starting items. 5-stars since I can't fault it for things I haven't tested as yet. Packaging: very good+ Box was in very good condition. Only minor indents from the plastic strapping (expected). Shipped on a small pallet for easier transport/handling. Unboxed Condition: very good + It looked brand new, as it should. No dents, scratches or any other apparent defects in packaging or transport. Other items; starting, running, dual fuel options, ease of use, reliability, etc. I will attempt to update after I have had additional experience with the generator. I'm hoping the performance is matched by the packaging/appearance!

Assembles easily, includes manual; runs quietly

Assembly went smoothly and features were clearly described, first when previewing the manual online and then referencing the hardcopy one included in the box. Upon trial startup, the generator ran surprisingly more quietly than our gas-powered leaf blower! We rarely have power outages during the winter months. But in the summer, when we have wind and rainstorms, and living in a rural area thick with many old trees growing along our country roads, we have frequent outages lasting 2-3 days when those trees/limbs fall on the power wires! We believe this generator will be most beneficial and appreciated when we only need to connect a few key electrical items (water pump, temporary AC window unit, refrigerator, TV, lamp, etc.) during those power outages. But this unit will handle our whole-house power needs, if we so desire.

IGen11000Dfc

Assembled generator and tried to start it. No go. Pulled spark plug and it was wet (flooded). Put plug back I. And tried again. No go. Opened other side of gen and held chock open and pushed start and it fired up. Tried next day and it did same thing. Seems auto chock is flooding the engine every time.

Not certain at this point

Picked this two days ago. It was shipped fine and everything was in the box as advertised. Putting it together was quite easy and instructions were precise. Prepared it for start up was easy. Added oil, fuel and connected battery. Started right away and ran it for about an hour with no load. Shut it off and went back a few hours later and fuel was leaking from the carburetor. Fuel had accumulated in the pan under the generator. Drained the fuel from the tank thru the carb and started to look at options. It seemed like the float in the carb was stuck and that was the likely cause. Gently tapping the carb is the normal fix to release the float. Put fuel back in and left a dry rag under the carb to see if it was still leaking. It didn't seem to be. We added some more fuel and started it again right away. Ran it for another half hour with no leak. Left it overnight and no more leaks found. This should have been caught at first start up in the factory. We'll see how things go.

A serious design flaw

I bought this generator to support my “off grid” cabin!. It started and ran well right out of the box , It has a battery start and optional “pull start” . The battery switch must be turned off anytime the generator is not running as the monitor will kill the battery.. The problem is the pull start will not start the generator if the battery is dead ! defeating the purpose of the pull start .. I was told this is unique to “duel fuel” units as the battery controls a fuel valve . Also the battery must be “on” for “auto start” to work, but will go dead in 24 hours.. defeating the purpose of auto start !! I will have to provide for an external battery charger to somehow keep the battery charged when the generator is in “standby” !! This Flaw really impairs the reliability of this unit as an auto start power supply backup! This can be easily be fixed with a “manual “ fuel valve and delete the lighted display!

Sturdy and solid

Features I wanted (prioritized in order), which I found on this iGen11000DFc generator: An "inverter" generator (to get THD or Total Harmonic Distortion under 3%) A "Dual Fuel" generator (to run either Propane or Gasoline) An electric start (from a battery) with "recoil" or manual start option Size: Something close to 10,000 watts (or 10KW) to easily handle any one circuit in our home (hot water heater, electric range, electric clothes dryer, etc.) Transfer switch ready (so I can "plug the house into it") Able to deliver 240 Volt circuits (required to be able to "plug the house into it") Bonus feature: The "c" in the model name for Westinghouse indicates it has a carbon monoxide shutoff feature - to shut down if carbon monoxide levels from the exhaust get dangerous around it. Packaging was great. Assembly was easy. Adding oil was made easy with supplied funnel, etc. Started it up yesterday (on propane) - took two tries to get it to start. The second try, it started but ran very rough, misfiring regularly. Let it do that for a minute or two, then shut it off. Started it again and it started right up and ran smooth. I proceeded to test it over the next 80 minutes, hooked it to our home with a 50 amp cord, and tried various circuits in the home including a heat pump, fridge, freezer, computers with monitors, TV, etc. - all worked fine. Ran the house on it for a while. My wife forgot it was on and started the electric dryer even. No issues whatsoever. The generator handled them all just fine and behaved like it was just idling to do it - it never seemed to strain or struggle. I then disconnected it from the house and started it multiple times, different ways, with the key fob, even pulling the cord (which took two pulls to start it). Every time it seemed to work just great! Downside that I saw only after reviewing the manual in detail - it says that it's not good at cold temps with the included oil (cold meaning below 23 degrees F). I want this for winter in Maine. So, I plan to change the oil out to the recommended 5W-30 synthetic oil for cold temps sometime after the burn in period - but the manual says to use the included oil until the generator is used sufficient to get it through a normal motor burn in of about 5 hours (as I understand it from reviewing the manual). Would I recommend - "yes". Bonus - it was quieter than I expected it to be. That's why my wife forgot it was even running and started the dryer in our home - she didn't even notice it was still on from inside our well-insulated home.

Powerhouse!

I purchased this generator to replace an older smaller one. The size is quite a bit larger but not the sound! It is noticeably louder but for the amount of power added I don't mind. This generator will play multiple roles for me, used for bowfishing and running all of my equipment, to power our camper whenever we boondock, or back up power supply for my house if the power goes out. Being dual fuel makes it nice. I plan to run nothing but ethanol free gas but if we are without power for an extended time I have multiple large propane tanks! No more freezing when the power goes out!

Easy Setup

Setup was simple and well-designed—just a quick assembly of wheels and handles, and it was ready to go in no time.
