I really like Great Lakes Coffee and Brew City Blend is a solid 4-star coffee for me. That's high marks coming from me. I suspect the coffee drinker who likes this blend is the person who enjoys the clean flavor of Columbian coffee that leaves little or no after taste and the person who likes the crispness of a citrus taste from more volcanic regions like Kenya, a flavor likely coming from the Brazil beans. I tried the blend because it contains Guatemala beans, one of my favs. Unfortunately for me, the muddier, lingering chocolate notes, while noticeable, gets washed away in the cleaner notes of the other two types of beans.
The strength of this Great Lakes blended coffee is it's potential appeal to a wide range of coffee drinkers. It has slightly more flavor than Columbian straight up while retaining its cleanness, a muted yet interesting citrus flavor likely from the Brazil, in what appears to be a lower acid coffee. As someone who drinks their coffee black, this is greatly appreciated.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a coffee that has a full but not overpowering flavor.
