Hello - Thank you for your review. We're pleased to learn you are enjoying the ice quality and features of this model. However, we're sorry you are hearing squeaking when producing ice. We can certainly understand how frustrating that would be and would love to be of help. Normally, when Opal is in need of defrosting, it may start to squeak as ice starts to build up around the mechanisms. The defrost cycle is automatic, and may take 30-45 minutes. However, if you are still experiencing this sound, a white vinegar cleaning to remove internal mineral scale buildup can help.
