I didn't know nugget ice makers even existed until it was included on an article with expensive items you don't need but don't regret buying. This was out of my comfortable price range but I needed something to keep me cool through the summer as we have no AC. This ice maker has helped get me through the hot 104°+ days. I honestly just snack on this ice at the hottest parts of the day and it cools my body down so much. Any other ice maker could do that too yes, but this one makes small, gentle on your teeth, easy to chew ice. I only use bottled water and drinks also taste so much better, especially with tea, soda, or just by itself. It does take a bit for the bin to fill up but I have the app to schedule it to turn on an hour and a half to two hours before I'm even up so there will be plenty ready when I am. Once you have that first batch, it's easy for it to keep up the rest of the day so you never run out. It's not refrigerated but the ice keeps well that even if you leave it for several hours, there will still be a lot waiting because it takes a while for it to melt completely. Now the downside of all this is that, the upkeep is a lot of work. It asks to be sanitized once a week at least. This cleaning cycle is a tiny bit of bleach with water, then a few rinse cycles. I'm sure this is to prolong the life of the ice maker but that seems excessive so I usually stretch it to once every two weeks. To offset that, I empty any remaining water from that day and wipe down the bin, the reservoir, and all along the walls every night before putting fresh water in for the morning. The descale warning already came up for me a month into using the maker but it's regularly on all day so that might be why. It's the same process as before but with vinegar and has to be left for 18 hours so you'll be a day without ice. Other than that, this has been one of the best purchases I‘ve ever made. I just hope it lasts for a few years before it gives out because of the hefty price. If you can afford it, don't mind the regular maintenance, and want your own sonic ice at your disposal, it's well worth getting.

In general I love this machine, I find it's noise level acceptable, and love the quality of the ice. The main cons are the price, and how cleaning requires me to move the machine around to access the drain hoses. That said I used to barely use ice in my drinks and I bought this for a crushed ice replacement in cocktails. Now I use ice in nearly every cold drink I have at home. There are now other nugget ice makers out there for less expense, but this one is really much better build quality.

Makes more than enough ice for our family of five. Nugget ice is awesome! The side tank feature is very nice. The bin does leak when tilted open, so we have to keep a towel in front of the ice maker. The wifi and app aren't very useful because it does not stay connected. We haven't been using it for very long, so I can't comment on the longevity of the product.

So far just a four. The reason is it's quiet, producing ice, & etc as intended. However, thought the little bars light up, their designations do not. Makes it hard to know which one, without referencing the manual as to which bar is “power”, “light”, and “Clean” and where to exactly press. I believe they are supposed to light up but if not, then it's a poor design, especially for the black unit. Someone failed to verify that aspect when doing the prototype, during the testing phase then. See pic.

The machine makes wonderful chewable ice and makes ice efficiently. The app interface does not work very cleanly and takes a while to make work. Lots of sitting time hoping the connection works successfully. Finally successful. This machine makes great ice.

I am not happy at all with the ice machine. Every time it starts to make ice water runs into the ice bin. My friend has the exact same ice maker and it makes the soft ice not nuggets, and now it has stopped making ice at all. It cost way too much to not work right.

It makes great ice and fast which is awesome, but the machine is really noisy. It also frequently makes a loud noise (the only way I know to describe it is like a whale call) and the only way we can get it to stop is to do 3 clean cycles. I love that it had a clean cycle, but should I really be needing to do this every 3 days to stop the whale call?

I love the GE Profile Opal Ice machine so far, we are using it in an office and it has produced plenty of ice for our needs. I will say that it is very important to use filtered water. The first few days I used non-filtered and you could see a difference and the machine was louder and did not run as efficiently.

I love nugget ice! After a very long time of admiring online and on social media, I decided I needed to have one in my life! It's so great, and my guests love it too! So fun and always a topic of conversation! No regrets! Sometimes it does get a little noisy but not unbearable. The weekly cleaning maintenance sounds daunting at first, but its very easy and has just become part of the weekly cleaning routine.

If you have ever thought about getting this…. Just do it! I put it off for 6 months and finally bought one. I can't say enough good stuff about this. The ice is wonderful and holds in my yeti cup for hours. If you do purchase this I highly recommend the side tank. It makes life so much easier. The WiFi feature is so wonderful. I set it for dinner and we have a bin full of ice ready to go. Don't hesitate if you have ever thought about getting one of these. I wish I would have bought it sooner than I did! Cleaning is so easy and the filters do last.
