Absolutely beautiful. Surprisingly, larger than expected. The only minor complaint is that the music/sound is not the best, but it does have a volume control. It is both battery operated and plug in, and it comes with the adapter and batteries. It shuts off when the cover is closed.

If you are a fan of the Nutcracker Ballet, this item is a must have! I love that the two options to turn it on, batteries or plugging it in. Also, you can adjust the volume when listening to the 3 songs it plays.

The book is beautiful but I had to replace twice. The marionette was broken on both of them. Still waiting to see if third one is good.
