I was extremely disappointed with the quality of this cookie cake from the Sam's Club location in McKinney, TX. While the overall design resembled the picture advertised on Sam's Club's website, the actual decorating was downright sloppy and looked rushed and carelessly done. There was excess icing smeared outside the design that could have easily been wiped away or cleaned up before packaging. The lack of attention to even the simplest details made the finished product look incredibly unprofessional. The character rings also did not match what was advertised online. The website pictured rings featuring SpongeBob and Patrick, the two main characters, with no duplicates. My cake had neither SpongeBob nor Patrick and instead included duplicates of lesser characters. Additionally, the personalized message I requested had not been added when I arrived for pickup. I had to specifically ask for it, and the employee was rude and seemed visibly annoyed and put out by having to add a message that should have already been included in the first place. This is a relatively simple design: an edible image placed on an iced cookie cake with a basic, single-color piped border. There's nothing particularly intricate or complicated about it, which makes the sloppy execution even more disappointing. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I did expect a reasonable level of care and attention to detail. I've been shopping at this Sam's Club location for over 20 years and have purchased countless bakery items, including many custom orders. I'm very familiar with what their bakery is capable of producing, which makes this experience all the more disappointing. Between the careless decorating, incorrect character selection, incomplete customization, and rude customer service, I expected much better from a bakery I've trusted for so many years.
