We had a temperpedic mattress for six years, which I always found too hard, especially when it was cool in the room. In he winter, it was like sleeping on a cold brick. After I had back surgery, the mattress pressed painfully into my incisions, and so I bought a beautiful purple. It allowed me to sleep without pain, comfortably. There was no pressure point on my incisions, it was soft and supportive but not hard or squishy. And my husband's snoring has all but disappeared, a benefit I had t even hoped for! I highly recommend this mattress! Plus it is an awesome company and I like their business model!

I've read countless reviews, each negative review is only responded by "change your sheets, its your sheets not our bed." This is frustrating because for a company that does millions in sales, has incredible marketing strategies and patters, you would think that they would help out the people not satisfied... They don't break rules, nothing after your trial period, and if they can use their fine print to avoid refunding money, they do. Purple mattress is a huge scam, there are plenty of happy people, but that will also happen if you put them on a hard solid wooden bed with nails, simply because many people can actually sleep on just about any surface and still be rested. Point is, Purple mattress is a scam with no scientific backing to their claims on why their product is "the best on the market" No, its not the best, its simply a poor product with great marketing. Gel foam doesn't support anything, it only collapses. Latex foam on the other hand actually maintains shape and structural integrity so please save your money and take that route... Beds by Design in Fargo, ND is the ONLY place to buy a bed. They are all custom made and they use high quality USA materials. They have every part in USA, not just a "made in USA" sticker because most places that say that still get international parts to build it. Rant over....

After sharing a Queen Sized Doctor's choice the last 12 years, my hubs and I splurged on a King Sized Purple mattress with platform base. We have been sleeping on it for just over a month and I can honestly admit my back and neck have never been happier! We are both sleeping more soundly and waking up more rested! The biggest appeal for us was that the base can handle a lot of weight and the products were advertised for more averaged sized adults, as both my husband an I are larger people. The only down side is that if we SIT on the bed (like to read or fold laundry etc, eventually i can feel the bars of the base under me. Almost like The bed sinks under pressure. I was also disappointed that we can't get a kind sized mattess protector. Other than that, I absolutely love this bed!

Like many others my, husband and I were tired of mattress's in stores. Many felt great for while we were laying on them in the store, but shortly after sleeping on them at home, they were either too firm, too soft or just plain uncomfortable. Both of us having bad backs, hips and pressure issues we tried pillow top, memory foam, latex, gel, innerspring , coil, you name it we had it. My husband was so fed up he was settling with the Stearn And Foster bed we had. I finally convinced him to let me research and look online. With a 100 day trial period and no shipping or return fees how could you go wrong? That is when I came across Purple, Puffy, Nectar and all the other online brands. Quite overwhelmed, I drove my husband crazy looking up reviews and watching you tube bed comparisons. I always ended up going back to Purple. Nervous, my husband wouldn't like the feel of the mattress I convinced him to go to Mattress Firm and test them out compared to other mattress's. The minute he lied down on the Purple mattress he was in love as well as myself. He would lay on The Purple mattress then try a Sealy, Tempurpedic or other store mattress and was convinced Purple was the one!!!! We went between the .3 and .4 for a good hour and a half and decided on the .4. You can really feel the difference between each of the Purple models. The .3 was quite comfy, but the .4 was that much more divine. A turkey weightless feel, but supported and comfortable in all the right areas. We also figured with us both being primarily side sleepers the .4 was slightly softer than the .3. Mattress Firm was awesome. They honored the Purple deal online that gave us two free purple pillows and the sheet set. We also purchased the mattress cover. We ordered everything on a Monday and was picking everything on Wednesday. The bed is heavy in the bag, I definitely got my workout, but once out of packaging it inflated fast with no off gas smell. The pillows had no off gas smell either and no powder some customers mentioned. The mattress cover is a stretchy silky material on the top with a waterproof layer in the bottom side. I immediately washed the sheets, I got in the color slate ( a great color by the way ) and put them on the bed. They are silky and very stretchy. Tonight will be our first night sleeping in the bed and I can't wait to go to sleep. FYI... Purple offers 100 day trial period, but if you purchase through Mattress Firm you get a 120 day trial period. Seriously though, I can't even imagine returning my Purple products. I'm already looking at buying more sheets since they are an amazing quality and the feel of them is this silky light weight feeling. We are looking forward to sleeping well with no more back and hip pain. Thank you Purple for you innovative approach to providing customers with the best support, comfort and sleep possible!!!!

After trying out a few other beds and even trying a purple 2( did not like was to cold and I sleep hot) I decided to give the org purple a try. I'm glad I did so far been 3 weeks I sleep really good on it. My last mattress my calves would cramp up on me and my hands would fall asleep. Since sleeping on the purple these 2 probs are not happening any more and my back feels great. The only I do wish they would change on this mattress is do 3 inch instead of the 2 inch top layer. But not really a big deal. I'm 6 ft like 185. Thanks Purple

I've been suffering from chronic back pain & muscle fatigue for almost a decade. Recently, the pain and fatigue have escalated to the point that I have been leaving work early on the days it becomes unbearable. My doctor has put me on a medication used to treat patients with Fibromyalgia, I've been going to a chiropractor, and have even started acupuncture - nothing seems to help. Out of desperation and willing to try anything at any expense to ease my chronic back pain, I purchased a first edition Purple mattress. I don't know anyone with a Purple mattress, so I watched dozens of youtube reviews to see how people felt about them. I couldn't find any negative reviews, so I took the leap of faith and made the purchase. I've had the Purple mattress for a few weeks now and I am LOVING it!! Probably the most comfortable one I have ever slept on! There is still a bit of fatigue in my back muscles, but I can actually make it through the day now without the sharp, shooting back pains! As the nights are going by and I am sleeping on the mattress more, there is a noticeable difference in the way I feel and function during the day. I could ramble on and on, but will cut short with a simple "Thank you." This mattress is actually changing my quality of life for the better and there just aren't enough "thanks" to give for that!

This bed only took 1 night to get used to. Initially, I thought it lacked the comfy, cozy feeling but I was asleep in less then 10 minutes and I did not hurt the next morning. My husbands snoring has been cut down by at least 1/2. I was nervous about this purchase, especially because I live in Alaska and I'm not even going to discuss how much it was to ship up here, but I have no regrets at all. It's perfect!

I liked the convenience of ordering the purple mattress but it was entirely too soft for me like a big piece of foam. I was going to exchange the original purple mattress order but I was advised that what I had was as good as it gets. I decided to order a Nectar mattress which was cheaper and way better quality. Plus I didn't like the tone of the email from Athena saying that purple limits the number of returns when I just returned once.

I had back surgery 3 years ago and my husband has severe shoulder pain. We had been sleeping on a 10+ year old mattress that felt like sleeping on a bag of potatoes. Needless to say, neither of us got a full night's sleep. We got our Purple mattress about 2 1/2 weeks ago and I've haven't slept this good in years! I don't wake up with back pain or stiffness and I'm not sweating buckets all night. Best purchase I've made in a long time!!!!

So I assumed that this mattress would cure all my back problems and let me sleep through the night for a change - I hate to say it did not do that. But, all in all I sleep pretty well on it. One thing I have to say - get the stretchy sheets - it will not feel right with regular cotton sheets. One thing that bothers me a bit is the surface of the mattress - it's bumpy, not smooth like other mattresses, it reminds me of sleeping on an egg crate. So, I am giving it the good college try - the jury is still out.
