Dawn refillable power wash

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Oh my I love this. It works so good for cleaning anything. I get rust stains in my sink nothing takes them off. This did I used it it was all gone. It smells yummy, light scent of watermelon. Not over powering. The design of the sprayer is perfect , sprays just enough . I think it’s great for the cost , you can use it for so many things not just cleaning dishes. Way to despise of too when you are done you buy the refill bottle and use you same sprayer. I will definitely be repurchasing this again . It took the place of all my other cleaning products

Trigger hard to pull, suds effectiveness low.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mixed thoughts here. The fragrance seemed too strong to me and the effectiveness way less than regular dawn. Like it was watered down. Value not good because it felt like I had to use more. The packaging seems like it should be easy but trimmer seemed to hard, hand slipped a lot if I had long nails it would have hurt pretty good.

We're sorry to hear that you feel this way, as we'd expect you to get a great clean with ease when using our Powerwash. To get the best possible results, make sure to only add water when rinsing, as adding water earlier will dilute the cleaning power of the product. We also put a lot of thought into creating features that we think you'll like. Your feedback will be passed along, and we suggest giving another Powerwash version a try if you'd prefer a different scent. So that we can learn more and assist further, please give us a call at (800) 725-3296.

Lightly scented, non-antimicrobial, powerful, dish

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash Dish Spray, in the Summer Watermelon scent, in exchange for my honest review. I clean everything…dishes, sink, stove, countertops, kitchen floor, shower, toilet, bathroom, cat litter box, clothes, etc…so, I know a good cleaner when I use one. When it comes to dishes, I used to be partial to method, and other “natural” brands. Then Covid hit, I started using Dawn, and I haven’t turned back. BUT, I always purchased the Dawn Liquid Dish Soap, not the sprays. I had tried a spray a few years back at my partner’s parents’ house. I remember being shocked that dish soap came in a spray, and then really enjoying using it because it seemed so much more efficient. I was able to apply dish soap to the dirty dishes, without creating a mess. And what I mean by that is, regular liquid soap bottles are poorly designed. In the beginning, they are so full that it’s easy to pour out more than you need. Somehow, dish soap always ends up dripping down the sides once you put the bottle down. And if you have a pump bottles, overtime, the pump starts dripping onto the sink/counter and sometimes clogs up. I admit that some of this may be user error related, but I feel like this is a standard occurrence in every household I’ve visited. I genuinely believe those bottles are designed to waste product, so that you go through it faster and have to buy more. In any case, the reason I didn’t switch to the spray previously is three-fold: 1. We have a dish soap pump built into our sink with a tube that goes into a liquid soap bottle under the sink. If we remove the pump, a hole would remain. 2. My partner usually does the grocery shopping and buys dish soap in bulk, and whenever we run low, he buys more before I can think to suggest buying the spray. 3. A 2017 study by N Dixon, M Morgan, and O Equils, demonstrated that “nonantimicrobial foaming soap was not as effective in reducing hand bacterial load as the liquid soap.” I thus extrapolated that the same may be true of a dish soap spray when compared to liquid dish soap (Dawn actually says the opposite; they say that the spray is actually stronger that liquid dish soap due to 3 cleaning boosters and reduces the time needed to clean the dishes). One thing you may be surprised to learn is that: DAWN POWERWASH SPRAY IS NOT ANTIBACTERIAL I am grateful for this, and will explain my reasoning. (I apologize for the exposition. If you are not interested in the scientific explanation for why I prefer to use non-antimicrobial dish soap, please skip to the next paragraph.) Tangentially, regarding the nonantimicrobial soap study, of course, one might think, “Well, just use antimicrobial soap then.” - BUT the emergence and proliferation of resitant bacteria has become a problem, likely stemming from the preponderance of antimicrobial use (antimicrobial soap was patented in 1984 and contained triclosan). - Bacterial resistance, as well as the unintended adverse health and environmental impacts (“[they] are environmentally persistent endocrine disruptors that bioaccumulate in and are toxic to aquatic and other organisms”), led to the US FDA ban on 19 antimicrobials (including triclosan and triclocarban) from over-the-counter consumer antiseptic wash products. Yes, you can still get antimicrobial soaps, but should we be using them? Prior to reading the study and the FDA ban reasoning, I always had some antimicrobial hand soap in the house, usually at the kitchen sink to wash bacterial off my hands after handling raw meat. In my bathroom and mudroom, I stock normal liquid soap, because a thorough lather (20+ seconds) is supposed to be adequate for washing off any microbes (as I was instructed to do when I waitressed and when I worked in a hospital, and as the general populace was instructed to do to prevent the spread of covid). OTHER ADVANTAGES of using the spray: - Dawn states that the spray starts cleaning on contact, before you even start scrubbing. And thus, you can “save up to 50% of the time spent washing.” I believe this may be true, since I sprayed this over some greasy areas on a griddle, and let it sit for 1-2 mins and the grease seemed to almost just rinse off (this makes sense due to saponification). What’s funny, is I just read that that’s almost exactly what they recommend; they say, “ You can even skip the overnight soak on your toughest messes! Just spray, wait 3-4 minutes for the activated suds to break down the burnt-on, baked-on food and grease, then lightly scrub, and rinse.” - Powerwash has 3 cleaning boosters not found in traditional dish soap. - It can be used on counters, stoves, and to pre-treat laundry stains. SCENT: I selected the Summer Watermelon scent for two reasons: - I love the smell of watermelons - It seemed like a nice change from the ubiquitous citrus scented dish soap Impression: I like the scent. I was expecting a more gourmand fragrance—something like a watermelon jolly rancher—but to me it smells more like a light floral watermelon perfume than something sweet or edible. ONE ISSUE: Difficult unlocking mechanism The Powerwash spray bottle has a locking mechanism in the form of a twistable nozzle. This product was shipped to me and arrived in the locked position. Dawn says it is unlocked by twisting the nozzle until the cutouts on the sprayer and the nozzle form a full circle. However, I was unable to twist the nozzle at all. I feel like the nozzle shape and distance from the top of the sprayer make this harder than it should be. Fortunately, my partner was able to twist it, but as you can see in my photo, he wasn’t able to twist it all the way to form the full circle. So, technically, the nozzle isn’t in the fully unlocked position, and yet, the product sprays without issue (it did not spray when in the locked position). I am not clear if I received a defective nozzle (overly difficult to twist) or whether this is an intended feature. In support of the former supposition, it seems odd that it sprays even though it’s not twisted all the way and thus should not be unlocked. OF NOTE: - You are not supposed to get your dishes wet before spraying as this dilutes the efficacy of the spray. You are supposed to spray, wipe/scrub, then rinse. - Unlike regular liquid Dawn, which has been used to clean spilled oil off of animals, Powerwash is NOT SAFE ON ANIMALS OR PLANTS. - Contrary to the popular misconception, Dawn states that Powerwash is not just watered down liquid soap. - Dawn does not recommend refilling the spray bottle with watered down liquid soap, stating that “it may clog the sprayer over time, and may provide a poor cleaning experience.” - Dawn advises AGAINST USING Powerwash on: marble wood (including unsealed, varnished, stained, or painted wood surfaces & furniture) - but it can be sprayed on wood cutting boards as long as it’s rinsed off precious metals, copper, or sterling silver (can cause tarnishing); leather fabric or upholstery that wont be rinsed interior of an oven (it would require rinsing and removing any residual soap or suds) surfaces with specialty treatments or coatings - Dawn advises CAUTION USING Powerwash on: unfinished cast aluminum fixtures and surfaces; since aluminum can be sensitive to cleaning products, Dawn recommends spraying and immediately rinsing off - Dawn is SAFE for USE on: cast iron, with the caveat that it may remove the seasoning glass enamel stainless steel I hope my review answers any questions you may have and gives you an informed decision on whether Dawn Powerwash would work for you.

Powerful

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We love this dish soap! It's easy to use and powerful, one spray is more than enough to clean the grime. The watermelon scent leans more floral than fruity but it is delicious. They sell refills too so you don't need to keep buying the whole thing.

Wonderful scent and scrubbing power

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this product for free from influenster and Dawn in exchange for my honest opinion. I was happy to get this to try. I love watermelon and this smells so freaking good. The spray bottle is so convenient for the quick cleans and it makes me so happy to use. I'm glad the price isn't so bad because this is definitely something I would repurchase and recommend to others.

The Bottle Sells It!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would re-purchase this a million times over just for the bottle! The convenience of spraying your dishes to clean them is amazing and I’m not sure how I haven’t used something like it before. The soap itself smells great but the scent is slightly strong. I do wish that the ingredients were a bit cleaner, but the composition does the trick in terms of actually cleaning the dishes. I recommend!

I get the hype!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I never tried power wash spray as I figured it was no different than regular Dawn and I was so wrong! It works great on pans and a little goes a long way. It’s so easy to use and much faster than trying to get a cap on and off. The watermelon scent is great for summertime. Will definitely repurchase.
