TurboTax really excels in meeting our needs.

Importing the tax information from last year was critical. We liked the ability to download information directly from our financial institutions (this save a lot of time). The questions posed by Turbo Tax are generally straightforward but not always. We liked being able to go back and review individual topics. In past years we had difficulty accessing Form 8606 for IRA distributions. We have learned to search for the form we needed under the list of forms - and we were able to fill it out with information specific to our needs. One criticism - at the end, when Turbo Tax is reviewing for errors - the alert said we had to fill in the box on line 22 on a 1099-INT, however, we had 16 1099-INT forms and it was a real pain to determine which one TurboTax had targeted. If the goal is to fix errors, then the software should just bring up the form that needs to be corrected. That would be very helpful. I think TurboTax gets smarter each year - and perhaps listens to customers reviews. Kudos to staff for the changes you have made over the years.

I entered all my information and for some reason Turbo Tax did not save it even as I saved along the way. I had to reenter everything and complete the process. Now I had completed a draft of my Son's and I don't see that in the ready files to continue working on. This causes delays and rework and I am not happy about it. I will contact help desk to avoid reentering,

Turbox Tax installation process is horrible.

I had installation issue this year and last year. The problem is the same that when I tried to do the verification and log into my existing Intuit account via your TurboTax App, it kept saying "Access is denied" without even present me a web interface requesting password. By the way, I have no problem to log into my Intuit account via web browser (using Edge or Chrome" So the issue is definitely not about my authentications but rather something about the handshake between my request for log in to your TurboTax Server. Last year's problem I fixed on my own. This year's problem I opened 3 support tickets with your Support Center. None of the 3 support Rep really understood the root of the issue. The last one (which is supposed to be handled by an Escalation Engineer is among the worse. I already explained to her that we have tried all the following in the first two troubleshooting sessions such as: - disable the VPN and all anti-virus - updated MS last patches - verified the license code. But I told her that the "Access is denied" issue is happening even before the need of presenting the license code. But she kept saying my license code was not the right code and started questing me all the questions about where and when I purchased the software. I gave up tried to convince up and let her repeated all the stuff that we already did it multiple times in the first 2 troubleshoot sessions and sure enough none of that help. She then promised me that she will escalate the case further up and let me know the status. But I have not heard from her at all. Not even with an email saying what is the support case number. I think she just did not file anything to prevent your company know how bad she did. I finally go around the problem by using my wife email address to create a new Intuit account in order to bypassed the "Access is denied" problem. I am not sure how I would fix the same problem if it comes up again next year since I already used my email and my wife email to create two Intuit accounts.

Costs way to much for such a buggy program.

Turbo Tax Premier kept putting in a Canadian Retirement Pension in my worksheet and I kept trying to delete it because I don't have it, but it would not go away. There were a lot of folks having this problem since software was released and no fix. When a bug is found, it needs to be fixed immediately. Had to go into forms and remove it there and make sure it was not filed. Also, some questions need more explanation and program is buggy. This software cost a lot, and I will consider new software next year.

TurboTax very organized and helpful.

Have used Turbo Tax for years. Usually very happy with product. 2024 and 2025 PA state product has an issue with Sch. D capital gains identified by taxpayer, spouse, or joint not carrying over from Federal input, and no helpful input screens on the PA side to fix the issue. Never a problem prior to 2024. I have previous experience as a tax accountant.

Needs an upload for Crypto transactions

1. Turbotax Premier Desktop version does not have an updated interface to upload my Crypto transactions (new Form 1099-DA) from my Crypto tax software. This resulted in manual editing for corrections. 2. Then for some reason, after e-Filing, it tells me to physically mail in Form 8453, with Form 8949 transaction data that is already included in the e-File. I had no forewarning to troubleshoot, and it does not tell me why, ie what is the missing information, since Form 8949 includes all line items.

TurboTax 2026 Review

Overall it went pretty smooth. One area that could use a bit more instructions was the following: When entering a 1099-R I got to this screen Titled: "Tell us which person may have qualified for a penalty exception". Since there was only one person I assumed I should select Continue, but that didn't display the exceptions. I finally figured out I needed to select the Edit pencil icon to see the Exceptions. I recommend something like: Click Edit to see the Exceptions.

I wish I could tell turbotax "I want to enter my 1099-INT or my W2 or ... and enter the forms as I receive them, rather than having to go through the interview in a specific order. I use TurboTax every year for the past many (more than a decade) years. This is the first year where the program said sections were pending and I couldn't complete them in early february but had to wait for the software features to be implemented

TurboTax is great but needs improvements

This year, as will be the case for the upcoming years, I needed to report a non taxable foreign pension (exemption under a tax treaty). I talked to three different TurboTax experts and got three completely different answers/approaches: I was told to trick the system (enter a fake 1099-R with a fake TIN), to not report the pension (the backup IRS publications referred to were irrelevant), and last to have a CPA prepare my taxes because TurboTax cannot handle this situation. I found out on the TurboTax Community Forums that I am not an isolated case. TurboTax needs to offer the option to report a non taxable foreign pension properly. Also, I have had to file by mail because TurboTax does not support Form 5471. Hopefully this form will be supported in the near future.

TurboTax 2026 Sucks Less Than Last Year

Some improvements over last year, but still many software/algorithm errors occurring. However, most annoying aspect is software does not fully utilize information previously entered into program. If you can't properly set a flag, how am I supposed to trust that the program otherwise is just fine, accurate, and free from bugs?
