Got my linen duvet cover today. Out of the package I could see it was prewashed, that’ ok fine, but the construction is really bad. The opening with the buttons and button holes was completely shrunk up and wrinkled so badly it had to be ironed to be used. I washed it right away, warm water and very low heat. (I own many linen sheet sets, this works fine.)
When I went to smooth it out to iron the opening flat, gobs of linen lint balls came out. There were big balls of lint in the corners inside and along the seams. The seams were sewn inside out, on the outside of the duvet. Never seen that before. Back to the lint balls, made a huge mess all over the bed and the bedroom. If your’e going to prewash something, do the fabric before constructing it, not after. This left a ton of lint in the dryer too. When I ironed it, I could see how thin the linen was. Not high quality at all, and I’m really surprised, because Brooklinen is typically a good brand and highly regarded.
The fabric is soft and light, I don’t mind the texture. The poor construction and thinness were a bummer. The price for a queen duvet cover, I guess that makes it worth keeping. I just wanted you to know what you’re getting.
