They have a kind of chalky residue on the outside ( not in a bad way) but like the big old school candy canes, which made me like them even more. I was expecting a peppermint flavor not the old school taste, so this was a bonus for me. The peppermint flavor is mild, smooth, and blends well with the chocolate and almond. It does not overpower. The almond is not too hard but also not too soft like you get with some chocolate covered varietes. These are just really good and I will be adding to my Christmas-time goodies.
