I was surprised my fan came with a wired remote instead of a handheld one in the box as that’s what the picture looked like to me. I didn’t really see this prominently on the product page when I bought it either and was frustrated that I would now have to spend time wiring another thing with no guarantee it could even fit in my already crowded switch box. The installation guide for the remote wasn’t detailed enough and I assumed I could wire in the remote without having to put in the two triple A batteries. Nope! The wall remote only functions when it’s wired and has its batteries installed. What a pain. Now I have to turn the breaker off, remove the wall plate, then remove the two screws holding the remote in place to change the batteries. Who knows how long the batteries even last. Having to change them every six months to a year is a nuisance. Don’t make my same mistake. I also set the fan to the highest setting and it didn’t feel very powerful. I originally intended it to ward off mosquitoes on my patio but I doubt this is strong enough, even on its highest setting, to keep them from flying near me. It feels more like a gentle breeze than a powerful fan.

There are two ratings here: The fan itself is five stars. It’s totally silent, it’s efficient, it looks great, and installation and instructions are good Then there’s the control, two stars. It’s an absolute joke: 1. The switch has controls for a light. This fan does not come with a light, and there is no option to add one. 2. The switch installs in the wall, but operates off of aaa batteries. The batteries install from the back! So, to replace the batteries I have to turn off the breaker and remove the switch from the wall. 3. The switch is white, with no alternative colors or face plates available. This kind of cheap, lazy design is something I’d expect from a bargain basement brand. It’s bizarre that Hunter, probably the biggest name brand in fans, would supply such a poorly designed switch with no alternatives. Hunter, redesign the switch. I’ll pay whatever you ask and order it immediately. Just do it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This beautiful Hunter 60 inch Downtown indoor/ outdoor fan puts out a ton of air. The airflow on high speed is 8045 cubic feet per minute. It is damp rated for covered outdoor areas. I am using this in my garage. I have higher ceilings in my garage and this fan alone helps push the hot air out and really circulate the air. Which is perfect since part of my garage is also my workout area. They motor is very very quiet, much better than the loud fan I was using before and very modern and stylish. The wall mount control are very nice easy to use and you are able to get a remote for it. This is the perfect fan if you need air circulating and don’t need a light attached to your fan. The fan and the fan blades are heavier and are really made with quality and feel like they are made to last

The 60-inch fan fits perfectly out there. But great thing about it is that you can use it inside the home too! It works great, fast airflow. It cools very quickly and quietly. It's labeled Energy Star and has wall control. 6 speeds. Unfortunately we weren't able to take a picture of it because my husband didn't secure the fan properly to our DIY covered patio and it fell. The great thing is that it was perfectly fine! It didn't dent or scuff thankfully! It's very durable!!
