It doesn’t have too much of a scent and the packaging it came in was very protective. I think this is a great value and I am giving this as a gift to my grandmother who loves butterflies.

I recommend airing it out for a couple days before placing at your front door. The design is absolutely adorable though. Perfect for spring and summer. Unfortunately summer is almost over. The mat, itself is about 10lbs so it's pretty heavy and won't slide around easily. You can place this indoors or outdoors. I live in an apartment, so I have it indoors.

There was no weird scent and it does the job to clean feet off before entering the house. My biggest and only complaint is it seems that my dogs’ claws are picking it in places.
