Light weight, sturdy. Elegant appearance for garden or home. Better price than Home Depot.

Very nice for the price

I really like the look of these and they are excellent for the price (I purchased when they were on sale). I just wish they were packaged a little better. They seemed to be a bit scuffed up when they arrived. The instructions were clear and simple to drill drainage holes.

We’ll see? Not sure about self watering?

Looks nice but..Self watering is not set up… you have to get wicking materials and drill holes… the picture isn’t what is there, it’s what you could do? So it requires some set up and I’m hoping the picture with no words is explanatory enough? What “wicking material should I use? And how do I keep the soil out of the hole or keep water from getting nasty? Should I drill optional drainage holes? And how would that impact the self watering? Seems like if there was a hole with a plug at bottom and side it would really be “ ready to go” as advertising says? Also it’s gonna be in a windy area and wondering if the water level gets low if it will be too heavy and tip! Trying to figure out how to weight the bottom of water gets low?

Deceiving. You have to make it self watering

These are nice and big. But the self watering aspect is very misleading. YOU have to make it self watering. You need to drill a hole in the top and side, buy wicking rope and measure, cut and tie 10 pieces of rope for each planter and put it down into the holes inside of it. Then you have to fill with gravel and then soil. I’m glad I went through the trouble for this, but I’m annoyed it wasn’t clear you had to do it on your own and there’s no instructions. I had to YouTube instructions. There’s a very cut and dry video from Step2 who makes this. I’ve attached pictures of the steps you have to take. If you don’t want to make it self watering it’s ready to go out of the box. Personally wouldn’t have bought this had I known all I had to do prior to planting.

One concern

Even though I measured the height of this planter I was surprised at how tall it is. It is very attractive and I am looking forward to using it. I have it outside my sliding door and will be planting very fragrant Stock in it. I am concerned about the self watering. The water level would have to be very high to be of any help.

False Advertising

Beautiful planter. I had to pick through 10-15 at the store to avoid ones with scuffs and dents. No instructions, not self-watering without drilling and adding water-wicking rope, which you guessed it—is not included. I found a video tutorial on YouTube but only because I had to do research to find that info in another review here.
