I enjoy coloring, and the nice variety of colored lids in the package and nice price attracted me to this set. However, the lids seem to have very little correlation to the ink colors. Some of the lighter lids, one would expect to be a lighter shaded ink, but this was rarely the case. Some lids looked obviously red, but were decidedly brown (not reddish brown). There was not a variety of colors like the packaged lids made it appear that there would be. There were so many extremely dark colors and so few lighter shades that I did not find them useful. I also found that the combination of the brush tips and water-based inks were very rough on the fibers of the various types of papers, leaving any colored area rough, no matter how carefully I used them. I was disappointed with these markers for my purposes, but I gave them three stars because my grandchildren, aged seven and nine, seemed to be very happy with them. As for me, I'll stick to my alcohol-based markers.

I just picked these up today. They're alright for $15. A lot of the brush nibs were frayed before I used them. The nib firmness varies greatly from marker to marker and don't even get me started about the cap color not matching the ink. I'm pretty sure a few of them got the wrong caps because the immense difference. Good thing I love sorting, color swatching and labeling my markers so this gives me an entire additional OCD project to complete in quarantine. As a beginner I've found that stiffer brushes seem to be easier to maneuver and control. These ArtSkills markers for the most part are very soft (with the exception that there is a vast range of stiffness amongst the markers) so it's tough to get a constantly thin upstroke. I guess this is where the thin line side of the marker comes in handy. Some of the markers splatter ink when you open them, they're all on the juicy side, some way too wet. Also, there is no indication on the packaging whether these are water or alcohol based. I assumed they were alcohol but after purchasing I do believe they are water-based. In the end... Considering color vibrancy and variety alone (I didn't find any exact repeats) I'd buy these markers again for $15 and I would definitely recommend them with a forewarning. Fifty markers for $15 is a good deal any day in my book.
