I chose the can with the black lid over the stainless steel lid because it would blend better where I wanted to put it. Unfortunately it didn’t occur to me that Simplehuman would make a trash can that didn’t feature their slow closing lid. The description of the can does mention the difference, but who reads a detailed description of a trash can?? They really need to make it clearer in the description that the one with the black lid doesn’t have that feature.

Okay so although this is probably designed for office work in mind, I sought this out for its convenience and hygienic properties as a kitchen compost bin. Hear me out. Previously we had compost bins that require you to open a lid with one (possibly dirty) hand and scoot the vegetable trimmings in. All sorts of cross-contamination, and all the compost bins have small openings, so the vegetable trimmings would inevitably land outside the bin. With this can, you just hit it with your foot to open the lid, the opening is a little wider than an average-sized cutting board, and has a sufficient capacity so that you're not going out to the back yard to empty it every other day. Hey presto, convenient operation, no cross-contamination, makes cooking prep so much cleaner and more convenient. Solved so so so many problems for us.

I got this barrel to place next to my kitchen trash barrel for recycles. In my town we need to separate recycles so a smaller barrel like this is easier to sort through though I need to clear it daily or more often. I considered the smaller one that attaches to the larger barrel but it was just too small for recycles. I also have the same barrel for a bathroom. These are neat and good looking

For a tight spot next to a Laundry Room cabinet but behind a hall door, this perfectly-sized step can was the ideal choice. It is big enough to be very functional (used mainly to collect lint from the dryer), the step feature allows hands-free access. Really like the quiet-closing lid, too...no loud clang when the lid comes down! If you have snug space that could be made useful, this is definitely worth considering.

I cannot believe I'm a person who is praising a trash can, but this really is perfect. It's a mini version of my big one and fits perfectly in my small bathroom space between the toilet and the sink (and keeps my dog out of my bathroom garbage). I'm very pleased!

Good looking trash can. The foot pedal mechanism works great. However the can is not stable enough. It moves around when you step on the pedal to open the lid. It should be heavier at the bottom or maybe have pads that prevent movement.The simple human bags , which are high quality, are a bit difficult to place on the inner container.They do nit spread out easily once inside the container

I love that the trash bags fits exactly into the trash bins. I, for so long, used to use trash cans with old grocery store bags. After discovering simplehuman years ago, I converted all of my trash cans to them. Love, love this purchase and would recommend the perfect fitting trash bags with them.

I would have given all five stars if the bags fit more easily. The bag that is supposed to be used by this can is really tight and way too snug of a fit and so it is really difficult to put on. Otherwise, great can for the bathroom. Good size and the silent close is AWESOME!

This step can is half the price of some other that I saw online. it is stainless and really perfect for. my use in the bathroom. It sits just below the level of the toilet seat, and between the toilet and the sink, and used for paper towels. The liners fit tightly and the lid works perfectly to close by gravity. I recommend this to everyone.

The trash in the under sink cabinet was always overflowing, and an open container outside of it would have only added to my dog's paper product addiction. This is just the right size to squeeze between the commode and sink cabinet (perfect, actually) and the pedal and lid operate like butter while keeping hands clean. Good capacity and the custom bags make the whole thing look very nice in my main bathroom space. Not really that pricey compared to other options. Well done, precise functional & aesthetic design.
