Luxury product and great taste.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a luxury product in a very attractive bottle! It is great for those who prefer a smokey flavour and is an amplified version of the classic black labeled one. It isn't one I would drink near but it mixes really well and tastes great! Bit expensive but worth it for the quality.

Jonny Walker Black Label Whiskey 5*

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Jonny Walker Black label Whiskey is a Scotch Whiskey from the west coast of Scotland. It has a naturally smoky flavour and was aged in charred barrels, which enables the making of a full-bodied double malt blend with a deep, intense flavour it claims so tried it out for myself and with friends and family! Great on its own with ice or add to a cocktail, or mixer like coke depending on how you like your whiskey! Enjoyed trying this product and exploring its flavours using various mixers and also in cooking, nice depth and smokiness which really comes through when drinking straight but in BBQ sauce it really did add a fantastic deep rich whisky flavour on pulled pork so don’t just think this is just for drinking!

Great depth and flavour, excellent value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The aroma hits you right away, it’s rich and smoky, and you can tell it’s good quality. The flavour is complex, you get the spiced clove and hints of orange and vanilla. It makes really delicious highballs when pairing it with ginger ale. The sleek, dark glass bottle gives it a really premium feel. Really good value for money and I’ll definitely be picking up another when I’m finished.

Johnnie Walker Double Black Blended Scotch Whisky

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently received a bottle of Johnnie Walker Double Black, a non-age-statement blended Scotch whisky from the iconic Johnnie Walker brand, for review. Bottled at 40% ABV, this expression builds on the classic Black Label by emphasizing smokier malts, with whiskies sourced from distilleries across Scotland, including Islay and Speyside, and matured in heavily charred oak casks. Designed to deliver a bold, smoky profile, Double Black promises an intense sensory experience, which I eagerly explored. Appearance In the glass, Johnnie Walker Double Black displays a rich, deep amber hue with golden undertones, reflecting its time in charred casks. The whisky is clear and inviting, and when swirled, it forms slow, steady legs, indicating a pleasing viscosity that hints at its robust character. Smell (Aroma/Nose) The nose is immediately striking, with primary notes of sweet peat smoke and charred wood dominating the aroma. Subtle secondary scents emerge, including ripe apple, vanilla cream, and a touch of citrus zest, adding brightness to the profile. The intensity is bold yet approachable, with a layered complexity that invites deeper exploration. With a few minutes in the glass, the smoke softens, revealing hints of toffee and spice. Adding a drop of water enhances the fruitiness and introduces a faint floral note, rounding out the aroma’s depth. Taste (Palate) On the palate, Double Black offers a smooth, slightly oily texture that coats the mouth. The initial sip bursts with smoky sweetness, reminiscent of honeyed peat, followed by a mid-palate shift toward black pepper and toasted oak. Specific notes of caramel, green apple, and a hint of salty brine create a dynamic flavor profile. The balance is impressive, with the smokiness tempered by sweet and spicy elements. A second sip amplifies the spice, while a splash of water softens the intensity, bringing forward creamy vanilla and fruit, making it more approachable for sipping. Finish The finish is medium-long, leaving a warm, smoldering sensation. Dominant flavors of peat smoke and spiced oak linger, accompanied by a gentle sweetness that fades slowly. The aftertaste is satisfying, with a subtle dryness that invites another sip. Overall Impression Johnnie Walker Double Black is a compelling blend that delivers a bold, smoky twist on the classic Black Label. Its rich, layered profile makes it a standout for those who enjoy peated whiskies, yet its balance ensures accessibility for newcomers. While not overly complex, it offers excellent value for its price, ideal for sipping neat or in cocktails like a smoky Old Fashioned. This whisky will particularly appeal to fans of Islay-style drams and those seeking a robust, flavorful blend. Rating I rate it 87/100.

A bold, smoky whisky that’s too strong for me neat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m not a big whisky drinker – I usually go for a spiced rum with lemonade – but I thought I’d give Johnnie Walker Double Black a proper try and tested it three ways. I started by trying it neat. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan. It was far too strong for me, but I don’t normally drink spirits straight, so that was expected. The smokiness is bold and definitely comes through, and I can see how whisky fans would appreciate that depth. Next, I mixed it with coke. This was easier to drink, and the coke brought out a nice vanilla note, while still holding onto the smoky character. But like with most spirits, I find coke tends to cover a lot of the flavour. Finally, I had it with lemonade (Sprite), which is my usual go-to mixer. This combo was easily my favourite. The citrus gave it a fresh lift, and I still got that hint of vanilla and the smoky taste in the background. I’ve always preferred lemonade as a mixer because I find it lets the flavour of the spirit come through more than coke does – and that was true here too. Overall, while it’s too strong for me neat, Johnnie Walker Double Black works really well mixed – especially with lemonade. Smoky, smooth, and something a bit different from my usual.
