Great looking but....
I installed this flooring about 9 months ago throughout my downstairs after water damage forced a complete flooring replacement. The color is great, I get a lot of compliments on it because it is so versatile, it really goes wit everything. The surface has stayed scratch free with a house full of teenage boys and 2 large dogs, so that is very impressive for such an affordable product. That being said (you had to know the but was coming) the install was not as easy as other products I have used. The snap together part damages fairly easily so you really have to kind of take your time with it, it had a pretty frustrating learning curve for me. The most important thing I have learned about this floor is that "moisture resistant" is a huge over statement of it's ability to not warp it a spill isn't IMMEDIATELY wiped up. I have already had to pull up and replace several boards where a spill occurred and teenagers being what they are, it got left until I saw it and by then if liquid gets in a seam, you can forget about it, it's toast. I actually sprayed some cleaning spray on a spot that my sons bird left for me (don't ask, ick) and literally within 15 minutes, the seam had already started to swell. The lesson I learned is that you can actually prevent this kind of damage by sealing the seams with a silicone product. I used a colored brown silicone called Dynaflex Ultra" made by DAP and it is working really well and it is very difficult to see a difference between the seams that I did and the ones that I haven't. I started with the areas around the ice maker, sink and back door because they were the most vulnerable to getting wet. I wish I would have known to use it when I installed it, it would have been much easier but I bought a tiny adhesive applicator with a fine tip and it did the trick...not as quickly as I would like but now I know to pass the tribal knowledge to the next guy. I hope this helps. You really can't beat the price on a great looking product but it involves a little more work and foresight than the pricier options.
Super easy to install and looks great
I have installed about 1290 at of this floor by myself. "Clicks" together easily and looks grea t. I have 2 very large playful pups and they are tough on the floor but no damages yet. I choose driftwood shade and omg it hides dirt super well! The floor in my 1945 renovation was really uneven but the floor went down easily even in those few spots. I set up a nurse and hug in the yard to cut and can easily through down a room in several hours. Be sure to use a rubber mallet and tap board. Very happy so far with this flooring choice. I even left a scrap piece out in the rain over night. The water beaded up and wiped right off.

A high quality product
This flooring was enjoyable to work with - easy to cut and fit - looks great - sturdy and gives my home a comfortable look - I added some old weathered fencing for baseboard which also gives it a rustic look - well worth the money and time to install it.

Driftwood is great -- Honey Maple is horrible.
The "driftwood" style of this flooring is GREAT -- definitely a 5 star product. However, the "lifetime warranty" of this company is a sham. I installed the driftwood product about 5 years ago and it has held up GREAT. It's solid. I installed the Honey Maple color of this product in my living room and dining room and it's as if a whole different company made it. The laminate is really cheap, there are surface scratches and bubbling and holes developing. I contact them and they will NOT honor their "lifetime warranty." Stick to the driftwood style of this flooring if you buy it!
Love Our Floor
We put this brand of flooring (just a different color) in our rental home approximately 8 years ago and it still looks like the day we put it down. When we built our personal residence 2 years ago, we decided to use the same thing to hold up against grandkids, granddogs and for easy upkeep. We absolutely love it. Some people turned up their noses when we said we were not installing hardwood, but it's just so beautiful, and we get so many compliments. Our installer loved working with the product and he said it was top notch and great quality. This color is perfect for our home. We would not hesitate to use this flooring again.
Think twice
I put this in my basement and would have done things differently if I knew what I know now. Installing this stuff was not very easy at all. It has also scratched fairly easy. It has also not proven to be water resistant. I wish I would have just spent a little more money on something more durable and easy to install.
Hello, we are sorry to hear you ran into difficulties installing our laminate flooring. As this is a thicker flooring than most on the market, it can be more difficult to click because it isn’t as flexible as thinner laminates. However, our Driftwood laminate flooring has an advanced SpeedLoc™ system that should allow for easy installation. We recommend watching the installation video on our website or on samsclub.com, as well as carefully reading the installation guide before starting. Additionally, our Elite Collection Laminates are moisture resistant, but it is important to wipe up spills as soon as they occur. Awesome product that is easy to install
This is BY FAR the easiest laminate I’ve ever installed. You can install install one by one rather than a whole row at a time. Great for DIY with limited experience. Looks great and very durable. Ok for basements with a vapor barrier. It is moisture resistant however if your basement floods it’ll likely be a total loss because high density fiber base will absorb water. Our water heater leaked and ruined a lot of our barn wood select surface laminate. Barn wood is no longer available. After tearing up and salvaging what I could I was one room short. I went with drift wood. It looks very similar and so much easier to install. Make sure you allow for expansion.

Better than prior version
I installed about 1000 sqft of the older version of the Select Surfaces laminate; prior to this new "speed lock" version. I knew the product well and figured I would do this next project, about 500 sqft MBR in our new house. I had little issue with the older version and really liked the thickness...if you're familiar with laminate, most of them sound like you're walking on hard plastic; not these...these sound solid and have a softer step to them. Anyhow, the older version, as with most mainstream laminate, had to be tapped into place; often causing damage to the ends of the planks. This version uses a snazzy clicking thingy on the ends; so you just butt the next piece up to the last and press (or step) down firmly and you hear a pleasant "click". I never once picked up my tapping block! I'll use this product anytime I can accommodate the thickness; it is way-thick...so make sure you take that into account for transitions and doors (not the jambs, as you'll need to cut those for any product; but the actual door-to-floor clearance). The price is awesome for what you get!
Hi Rick. Thank you for your review. We're very glad you're enjoying your new flooring, and the installation process! With regards to the thickness of the flooring and transitions, we have molding kits available that you can use around edges and in between rooms. We'd love to see photos of the final result on our website selectsurfaces.ca/gallery. Thank you, Select Surfaces.
Great Product
I have installed this product in two bedrooms at my house and today in a room at my parents home. The floor takes a little bit of expertise to install it along with a good saw blade on a miter saw. You also need wood flooring installation blocks to properly install the floor. Be careful not to damage the tongue and groove type lock joint and that is why you need the flooring tap blocks/ Just line it up and tap it with a rubber mallet and it will just fall into place. Once it is installed the joints are tight and it hold up very well and looks beautiful. Installed this color today at my parents home
