Root beer has been drunk in the United States since at least the eighteenth century. It has been sold in confectionery stores since at least the 1840s, and written recipes for root beer have been documented since the 1830s.[4]: 32  In the nineteenth century, it was often consumed hot and was often used with medicinal intent. Hires developed his root tea made from sassafras in 1875, debuted a commercial version of root beer at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition in 1876, and began selling his extract. Hires was a teetotaler who wanted to call the beverage "root tea". However, his desire to market the product to Pennsylvania coal miners caused him to call his product "root beer", instead.[7][8] In 1886, Hires began to bottle a beverage made from his famous extract. By 1893, root beer was distributed widely across the United States. Non-alcoholic versions of root beer became commercially successful, especially during Prohibition.[9][10]

Soda was flat!

I’m just fed up with companies that continue to add unhealthy, cancer-causing ingredients like High Fructose Corn Syrup!

This soda is like my own addiction, except non-alcoholic and no nicotine. This root beer is amazing! I give credit to the people who work hard making this soda, the person who invented root beer, and the person who peaked it. Thank you!

This rootbeer has the most amazing flavor. I love that it has that smooth vanilla taste. I drink one to two cans most days. It is seriously my favorite rootbeer. The flavor is also unique to A&W you won't get the same taste from MUG or Barqs.

You must have the right tool to open the lid, I use a large pair of 10" pliers, as it can not be opened by hand. I am 205 Lbs. and can not open one without them, the lids are on much too tight.

I didn't see an option to select zero sugar so I am reviewing under the regular. The zero sugar is not lacking in flavor or carbonation. Very fizzy and flavorful. I love using this for root beer floats for my kiddos for less added sugar.

This is one of the best root beers that I have ever had. And that's saying something because I have had over 150 different root beer brands from around the U.S. A&W makes my top 10

Please Help! My Most Fav is Caffeine free DrPepper, but i hear it’s not made anymore so I’m trying this & Searching to find how to get expiration date not stamped on 6 pack bottles. I don’t like to buy not knowing this.

I bought a six pack and everyone of the bottles were flat no frizz at all it was so disappointing. I usually buy the smaller bottles they were all ways fine
