Lots of reviews talked about the condition of the item - and they are spot on! Our box came in beat up and entire corners of the box were torn off. It was so bad that we took pictures in case we had to return it. The cabinet itself was mostly OK but did have dents and dings, as some of the other reviewers stated. As far as the review that said the doors opened even after locking, the doors will not open if the lock is done correctly. If the lock is turned 90 degrees, the doors will open, but if the lock is turned 180 degrees, the locking tab engages the shelf itself and the doors cannot open without breaking something.

Unpacking it was like Christmas to me! Although seeing it all unboxed, I did get a bit intimidated about putting it together myself. But I did, eventually. Everything is labeled well so of course, that helped a lot. I didn't put it together in one day though, I did it in increments of days and if I had to guess how long it actually took me, I'd guess about 3 maybe 4 hours but that last hour was mostly trying to get the doors on. Everything else was easy though. But I finally got it all together and it's in my garage waiting for me to fill it up even more. It's actually very spacious and even though the shelf weight limits are 45 lbs per shelf, I can put a lot of light weight stuff in there. I have a single car garage that is as scattered and messy as can be but this Gladiator Large Gearbox offers me a real chance at getting things sorted and put away properly, and safely as this item can be locked as well. It only comes with one key so don't lose it. It also looks really nice and makes me want to start decorating my garage. Overall, I am very pleased that I got to choose this item through the Spark Review Program.

It comes in pieces with great easy instructions as to how to put it together. It is very heavy so try to assemble it close to where you want to set it up. It took my husband less than an hour to put it together and it was a breeze with the very detailed instructions. It even has levelers if your placing it on an uneven floor. it will hold a bunch of different size things and the best part is it even locks for added security. It comes with one key and it is already being used at my garage. I highly recommend this gear box to everyone.

The Gladiator Large Gearbox is a solid metal storage cabinet. The cabinet is constructed of very durable gauge sheet metal. The only plastic you will find on this is the handles. The cabinet is well packaged upon arrival at a solid one hundred forty pounds. I found the packaging protective but not excessive. The cabinet does require assembly. I have included a picture of all the pieces. The instructions are good, not the best…you have to pay attention to the words and drawings(which are small) and use a little common sense. The parts are well labeled and stamped. I probably spent over an hour and a half assembling….but, could do it in half the time now. I would suggest using a screwdriver bit tool instead of the included Allen wrench…this will definitely speed things up. The exterior dimensions of the cabinet is 73 ¼” tall, 18” deep and 36” wide….but there is about 1 ½” of height adjustment that can be made by screwing in the leveling feet. The interior dimensions of the cabinet is the shelves are 16 ½” deep, 36” wide…but the door opening is only 33” wide. There are a total of four shelves. The shelves can be adjusted during assembly, there are additional holes approximately every six inches. However, the shelves are screwed in, so they are not easily changed. The doors are well made and include a lock and key. The cabinet is rated for 225 pounds….each shelf rated for 45 pounds. Overall, I am very pleased with the Gladiator Large Gearbox. I would recommend this cabinet to anyone searching for well-constructed, durable storage cabinet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a nice sturdy gearbox! When you get ready to assemble I would recommend separating and organizing the pieces. The package basically includes everything needed and it's all labeled except for a Phillips wrench and a level. Assembly time with two people will take about an hour, for me it was a little longer because I'm 7 & 1/2 months pregnant. With that said if I can do it in this stage anyone can, with the help of one other person. Once you have your unit put together you can either keep it standing on the floor or purchase the wall mounting kit separately. I opted to keep my unit on the floor. By the way you will need that level to adjust the feet otherwise the doors will not close properly. The storage unit is ideal for storing an assortment of items from: · Paint Equipment · Tools · Outdoor items - fly zapper · Play yard · Etc. If you are like me and can't stand things just laying around, the gladiator gear box is an excellent choice to organize and put away those things, eliminating the eye soars. Overall, this is an excellent product it was well thought out, sturdy and I'm hoping built to last. Yes, I would recommend it.

Ordered 2 cabinets. Both arrived within 4 days. Both were damaged and dented upon unpacking. Took an extra hour banging out dents with a rubber mallet. Panels were so warped that screw-holes were difficult to line up. Panels identification stickers were wrong and backwards, which meant assembling, disassembling, and reassembling. Great once all of this non-sense was handling. Rock solid and sturdy product, but VERY poor packaging and attention to detail. Walmart customer service was great and made right on the purchase. There are many more pictures of the damage, but only allowed to upload 2.

The locker stores about 27 ft3 and costs about $220. The shipping weight is about 85#. The advertisement states it has two lockable doors. Please note there are not two locks; there is only one on the right door. Assembly is easy if you follow the directions. Supplied is a hex wrench for the larger frame bolts. You will need to use 3/8” and 1/2” wrenches or a pair of pliers or similar and a phillips screwdriver to complete assembly. It is recommended to use a table for assembly; this simplifies the process Three shelves are included and are easily installed in the locker while on the table or with the locker standing. Heavy duty leveling feet screw into the bottom so the locker can be leveled on the floor. One extra fastener of each type is supplied in the kit in the event one is lost. And the parts fit together nicely. Some thought was put in the ergonomics of assembly. This is especially clear when installing the doors. A slot is provided on the door hinge that allows each door to slip into place for height adjustment in the cabinet. And you need to know that for this door to lock, the center shelf must be installed in the required location. The lock mechanism moves behind the shelf frame securing the doors to the shelf. This is not optional and there is no 'work around' for this. If you experience assembly problems, the manufacturer will skillfully assist you through the customer support help line. The locker provides a minimum level of security for the items inside. If you need more security, consider a job site tool box or safe. Given that this is a single function item, a review of it boils down to - you either need it or you don't. This item is priced in accordance with similar items from other retailers, but it seems that all these are over priced by at least $50, especially given the lack of flexibility in locating the shelves and the low security. Free pick up is not available for this item. Pity. But shipping to your address is provided. If available, request FedEx or UPS Ground. The sample item was shipped by another carrier and there were delays. I give this (3½) ***½ stars.

If you have the space available for this six foot tall heavy duty metal storage cabinet you should definitely pick one of these up. Beware the box is pretty heavy but it was not too hard to assemble. It took my husband less than an hour with his drill to assemble. That seemed like a long time to assemble but he said it was not too bad. This storage cabinet is perfect for storing your chemicals, paints, cleaning products, power hand tools you name it. It is great because you can lock them up and this keeps them out of reach from little hands, like my toddler who loves to mimic her dad and gets into everything in the garage. This metal storage cabinet is a wonderful addition to our garage. It will do wonders with keeping supplies and tools locked up and organizing the garage. The color is a gun metal grey and will match in all garages. It only comes with one key so you better keep it in a safe place. There are many other available coordinating pieces to make a full and functional storage area. This cabinet is much nicer than plastic storage units. It is 6 feet tall, 3.5 feet wide and 1.5 feet deep with one fixed shelf and two adjustable shelves so including the bottom of the cabinet there are a total of 4 available shelves for storage. This unit will hold a lot of stuff and organizing will be a breeze, each shelf holds about 45 pounds and the entire unit is rated for up to 225 pounds of supplies, gear, tools, etc. The surface has a very attractive texture which wipes down easily. I lined the shelves with a rubbery shelf liner to protect the shelf surface and keep it looking nice. Assembly was relatively easy for two people, I had no problem with it other than moving the shipping box. I had to open the box in the driveway and move the individual pieces to where it was to be assembled. This is a very LARGE, heavy storage cabinet so be prepared for special delivery and have some extra muscle available for moving the box as well as a second set of hands for assembly. The end result was worth it.

The cabinet is packaged really well in its box. There was more packing material than what would fit in a tall kitchen trash bag. But that just means that there is less chance of damage during shipping. That's a good thing. It took my husband and I about 1 1/2 hours to put it together. It wasn't hard to do. The instructions are easy to understand. All of the pieces are clearly marked as to what they are. And the items to put it together are all in an organized container. All of them are clearly marked as to what they are. They are not all in a bag that you have to figure out what is what. So much better the way that these are. The outer dimensions of the finished cabinet is 72" tall, 36" wide, and 18" deep. When the cabinet doors are open the opening measures 69" tall and 33" wide. There is a fixed shelf in the center of the cabinet that is about 35" from the bottom. The shelves are 36" wide and about 17" deep. There are 2 adjustable shelves for the cabinet. The sides have rows of pre-drilled holes that are 9 1/2" apart for the adjustable shelves. That helps it to be able to be customized for your tools. The shelves are able to hold up to 45 lbs each. And the whole cabinet can hold up to 225 lbs. There is a 1 point lock on the right side door. And the right door has to be opened in order for the left door to open. And there is only 1 key. It has 4 leveling feet on the bottom. They are independent of each other which makes it so that it is easier to level it.
