We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us.<br /><br />Fungus gnats are very common, naturally occurring insects, especially in environments that are rich in organic matter and moisture. They can enter bags through tiny holes.  While these little guys aren&#39;t typically harmful to your houseplants, they can certainly be a nuisance. The larvae, which look like tiny white grubs, feed on the fungus that naturally grows in potting soil. The adults are small and dark and may enter the air holes in the bag to lay eggs while the soil is waiting for sale.<br /><br />Here are a few things you can try to get rid of them:<br /><br />Adjust Watering: Let the soil dry out between waterings. Overwatering can make the problem worse.<br />Use Yellow Sticky Traps: Place these traps near the affected plants to catch the adult gnats.<br />Apply Sand: Add at least 1/2 inch of sand on top of the soil of established potted plants. The larvae can&#39;t burrow through the sand and will die. Leave the sand in place for several weeks until the problem is resolved.
