Primacy MXV4 tire. Did not meet my mileage expectation

I bought a brand-new Japanese passenger car from a local Southern California car dealership in April 2016. The mileage of the car was about 33,200 miles as of March 5, 2021. It has three OEM Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires and one replacement tire of the same brand and type. Per the car dealership's service report dated March 5, 2021, all four tires had tread depth measurements of 4/32" of less (3/32"). In the United States, new tires typically come with 10/32” or 11/32” tread depths. My four tires' tread depths have been already worn off 70 percent in a mileage of 33,200 miles (55% of Michelin claimed 60,000 mile tread warranty). A tire should not wear to the point of less than < 4/32” in only 55% of the claimed mile tread warrantly! The Primacy MXV4 tires on my car definitely did not meet my expectation in terms of mileage and ruined my impression of Michelin as a top-notch tire manufacturer.

Don't expect them to last

My car came with this tire on it. They had to be replaced at 5 years and 17,000 miles because of dry rot. So I replaced them with the same tire. After 2 years all 4 tires have dry rot on them. The car has never sat longer then 5 days and I am in Colorado. Now I see why Michelin Puts "Ozone and Weather checking" under "Items not covered in warranty" Have had Michelin tires all my life and never had this problem until I got the Primacy mxv4.

Cost was rather high but ...

Cost was rather high but i needed this tire for my 2005 Nissan Maxima. Lower speed rated tires did not perform well on this car. They caused intermittent vibratrations and were too noisy. Overall the Primacy tire was the best choice. It was like this tire was made for this car.

A premium, Dependable, & Safe tire

I bought the tires locally in Memphis for my 1997 Caravan that I use for local and long distance travel. I chose Michilin because of the reputation for quality and endurance. This set was not inexpensive, but the price difference was minor between lower priced units when I compared the differences in longevity and safety I had previously expected and experiencedin prioe purchases on another vehicle. I have not been disappointed in any way by the performance of these tires. This current set tracks well in all types of weather. Traction in rain is better than lesser priced brand equipment. I have not experienced any product failure in over 60,000 miles of use and tread wear is minimal. My tires are maintained by adhereing to recommended rotation and balance schedules. In addition, alignment of all wheels is monitored regularly. These tires continue to prove to me that Michelin tires are the best in quality, service, safety, endurance, and style. When the time comes, I will certainly continue to use Michilin tires because of my longtime positive experience covering 20+years of trouble free use.

Wore out at 34,000 miles!

Stay away from these tires! Unless you've got money to burn, you will be replacing them long before the 60,000 mile warranty. If money is no object, then sure they have a smooth and quiet ride. I did follow all proper maintenance and all work has been done at the dealer. In spite of that, all the tires are wore out and needing to be replaced at 34,000 miles!

New tires new Toyota Sienna - Worn out at 27,000

Like many others, I got these with my brand new 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE FWD. I took the van in for every 5,000 mile checkup and rotation at Toyota. At 25k, they told me the front tires were worn out. Whaaaaaat? The dealer said no warranty for me (I thought 60k?). So I took them to another tire shop. They said no warranty either, because they were worn "unevenly" (more on the outside than inside). I didn't have any alignment done, but the car is not even 2 years old. How is it my fault? Looking online, many Toyota owners complain of the same thing. But some have good luck with some tires but not others. Driven in California, so not harsh.

My life with Michelin

I have purchased Michelin tires for all my vehicles for many years. I found the Hydroedge tire to be the best I have ever owned. Sure footed and long lasting. The Primacy is OK. Quiet but not the best traction and not very long lasting, less than mileage than I expected. Would I buy Michelin again? Yes, for many reasons but it would be nice to have the old quality back.

Short wear tire.

The tire is on my 2013 Dodge Avenger front wheel drive purchased new. Rotations were done in the recommendation periods. Only 26,000 miles and looking to replace them. Not a good mileage tire. My driving is combination rural and city driving. It was only 2 miles from my job with only 1 stop sign to work. Otherwise, just daily trips for the necessary shopping and school for my son. No aggressive driving only if you consider my commute to the store has 4 round-a-bouts to maneuver through. Quiet running tire, but lacks in the mileage. Should get a least 40,000 at least. Love Michelins but only marginally like these.

Sad to see these MXV4 being discontinued..hard 2 find..

I'm pleased with overall performance although they do need to be driven several miles before they get smooth. I used to think the balance of the tire was the issue but after at the latest HUNTER, I accepted the fact that the tire design itself is the issue. My 99' all wheel drive Audi A8 likes the tire and so do I. This particular Michelin on this Audi works better than everything else I've had on the car (152K) to this time. Excellent control in ALL weather. Audi A8 would most likely do a good job with any tire but these Michelins on this Audi are a kick =wear very well and make me concerned about the driver on my bumper being able to stop

ist set of Michelins on ...

ist set of Michelins on my 2002 Jaguar, has definitly improved the ride comfort and reduced road/tire noise. Far exceeds original tires from manufacturer, one of the original tires at actually froze up in upper 20 degree temperatures and cracked while on a vacation trip to Gulf in January. We live in south Florida and do not get into cold much. This last year the Michlins spent a week in freeze and snow while in Virginia...not a problems.
