Why Change Horses?

Just replaced (4) MXV4 Energy tires, (original equipment on 2007 Honda Accord). Got 73,000 miles!! on them but the weather/ozone cracking on the sidewalls is becoming noticeable after 5 years plus. Tires were manufactured in April 07 and the tread is still great! So good in fact that we kept two of them and put them on the front of a Kia Optima that doesn't get driven as much. These tires were 50K warranty tires so we were very pleased. Replaced them with Primacy MXV4 touring tires that have a 60K warranty. A better rated tire? For those that swear they don't get this kind of performance outta Michelin tires, remember: tire rotation at every other oil change, and an alignment every 12-18 months or as necessary. If you go over a curb or a pothole...have your alignment checked!!

This long lasting Premium ...

This long lasting Premium performance tire was truly a cost effective selection for my luxury sports sedan. During ten years of long distance commuting at highway speeds this tire series had served me flawlessly. My 2000 STS is as good as new and so at 90,000 miles I put on a new set of the equivalent Michelin. The ride is smooth quiet yet lets you feel in complete control on slippery roads. In over 50 years of driving I have owned other brands of tires. I have always come back to Michelin. They are cost efficient Tried and True for me.

These were the OEM tires ...

These were the OEM tires on my 2006 TL. I tend to be a bit harsh on my tires and the MXV4s were good for touring but not for my aggressive driving. I can frequently feel lateral slide as I cornered. A for hydroplane resistance, let's just say it wasn't confidence building. Supposedly the tires are also good for fuel economy. May if I used my car for touring but I found only negligable difference. Good for OEM but I would not pay the asking price of these tires. I little more and you get high to ultra high performance tires. Cost to benefit is not worth the money.

Handles and Rides well

Have had the tires for almost 2 months now. Have done a lot of city and highway driving and am very satisfied with the tires. They ride well and quietly. Handling has been very good. Had a long curving narrow mountain road ride in the rain yesterday and at no time felt insecure about the handling. Have been up and down steep grades with good traction also. Have always been happy with Michelins and these appear to follow that history.

MXV4 wear

I have 30,000 miles on these tires and they only have about 7 to 10,000 miles left. Is this 60,000 mile guarantee just hype? The tires are rotated every 5k and are wearing evenly. By the what do you get if they don't last 60k. Can't find that out on the Michlin site.

reply from Supplier Response

Effective with purchases made March 1, 2011 and beyond, the Michelin Primacy MXV4 carries a 60,000 mile limited tread life coverage. Tires which have been properly maintained that wear out prior to 60,000 miles are pro-rated.

My second purchase

I just purchased my second set of Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires for my Infiniti G35. The first set wore so well and rode so comfortably and quite, that I replaced them with the same tire. They were rated for 60,000 miles and I got over 61,000 miles without any problems. In fact, they probably would have gone longer if I wanted them to. We are so please that when we replace the tires for our truck, we plan to buy Michelin LTXMS2.

this is my favorite tire

i don't know why michelin is trying to discontue these tires. best all season tires or of all tires i've ever had with ride comport, handling and longivility. been driving for 20 years with 250000 miles driven. other than that i go to bridgestone all season tires if primacy mxv4 is not available

I liked the tire very ...

I liked the tire very much until about the last 20,000 miles,at which time, the wet traction became horrible(probably due to not having full depth sipes. Therefore,I am looking at other brands for new ones, since these are almost to the wear indicators.

Michelin tires on ...

Michelin tires on lower-priced cars like Hyundai make the vehicle feel more like a higher-priced vehicle. They look good, are more durable, wear evenly, give exceptional traction, and the ride is comfortably firm. I have been buying Hyundais for many years because of their value for the money, including Michelin tires.

92,420 miles

I have a Lexus LS400, year 2000. I bought a set of Michelin Primacy MXV4s in a 225/60R/16 in 2007. It is now October 2015. There is still legal tread (3/32) after 92K miles but winter is coming up and I need a new set. Unfortunately the MXV4 is being discontinued and I can't get them. So sad, such a great tire. Smooth, good gas mileage, good grip, quiet.. I got the free rotation and balance for the life of the tire, I had a fire-year alignment and I check the tire pressures regularly. It paid off. I rate these tires as very excellent.
