MICHELIN Defender LTX M/S

We have been experiencing very poor driving conditions, however, our Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires have been excellent in assisting with our driving safety. Everyone should drive according to the conditions no matter what type of tires your car has on it. Our Michelin's are excellent in every way. Our Lexus RX350 has better control since we had our Michelin's put on. We simply feel safer.

15k so far and excellent

We bought two sets of these tires about 15 months ago. The Michelin Defender LTX are wonderful tires for my wife's 2011 Odyssey van and my 2009 Acura MDX suv. Have road tripped them both 1000's of miles and they are smooth and quiet and are also great around town whether wet or dry. I took the Acura to the Rocky Mountains and these tires inspire great confidence even through a foot of fresh snow. And quiet on the highway (less than 68db). Plus the 18” version of these tires have 12/32 of tread when new, so they are going to last a long time. Much better for a heavy van and SUV than the “regular” Defenders IMO, since those are built for lighter cars, while the LTX version is for heavier ones like a loaded down minivan (well north of 5500 pounds when loaded with 6 people, 2 dogs, and tons of luggage). Don't be turned off by the LTX version for your minivan or luxury SUV. They look cool too, are built for a heavy vehicle, and are still super smooth. I have about 15k miles so far on the Acura MDX's tires. Just drove it 2500 miles round trip with the LTX tires to the Colorado mountains and back through all types of weather: dry and smooth interstate as well as blinding snow a foot deep. They were super smooth and quiet crossing Kansas on the interstate, and never slipped in the Colorado snow. Could not be more pleased. I would recommended this version of tire over the regular Defender for heavier vehicles, since I would not have thought about an LTX tire since one normally thinks about a pickup for an LTX tire. The tires have stayed 100% balanced (as all Michelin tires do!) and wear evenly. Kudos to Michelin for engineering a great tire for all the family vans and SUVs out there.

Built to last

I purchased this tire in 2020 shortly after cupping the OEM Firestone Destination Tires with less than 30,000 miles. I sold the Jeep Wrangler in May 2024 with over 101,000 miles on the vehicle. 73,000 of the last miles were on the Michelin Defender LT MS tires purchased in 2020. The tires were still serviceable with 5/32 tread depth remaining.

Michelin Rocks and Can Do More!

Defender LTX M/S are outstanding*. Ride, comfort, grip, handling & braking are outstanding. Noise reduced exponentially. Other Michelins & brands may start out this strongly but based on previous experience & research, these Defender LTX M/S tires will** surpass all, certainly most all others. Name a better tire? I'll buy it! *More driving time of course, in various weather and road conditions, and at varying or higher speeds for longer duration is needed to establish baseline to test limits, etc. **Defender research shows some manufacturing problems Michelin must resolve. I want & expect less risk, more certainty. Michelin can do it!

Great tires, I have run two sets, looking for my third!

I run these tires on my Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Cummins Quad Cab. It's my second set now , I get about 80,000 km's out of them now and I'm just looking here to see size options as I'm going to need to replace them before the snow flys. I have considered other tires but in the end I'm not prepared to put up with any tire noise or ride issues. These Defenders are amazing, quiet, smooth, accurate, great traction in wet, snow, mud. Just need to find a dealer that can get me a good price as they are expensive but they are worth it for sure. My truck was stock with 265-70-17, but I have been running 285-70-17 with amazing results, my truck when not pulling a trailer will get 10.2 Lphkm, about 29 mpg at 110 kph.

AWESOME TIRES

This is my 5 set of the LTX M/S on my 2007 Ridgeline with 485,000 kilometers on it. averaging close to 100K a set with 55 to 60 % hard gravel driving. I was never a Michelin fan until this tire came with the truck. I now wont run anything else at least on the Ridgeline. Carry the load rating nicely and I have only had 1 unexpected flat since the truck was new.

worst Michelin tire I ever had

I've had these tires on my 2015 F250 since July , thought maybe they would get better but no hope. I've bought Michelins for the last 23 yrs , a new set about every 14-15 months. These Defenders are worse tires ever , VERY bad ride , I always bought Michelin for the soft ride and road handling. But never another set of Defenders. If the didn't cost so much I would change them out now.

Great tire! Deep tread but amazingly quiet

Did the reasearch and selected this tire sight unseen for my Ford Expedition. When I saw the tire in person I was concerned the aggressive tread would be noisy. So glad I didn't. The Defender LTX's are the quietest tires I've ever owned, and have excellent grip dry, wet, and even in snow.

Great Tires

Drove a 2014 CX-5 with Defender LTX M/S tires, went up 10 mils to 235 due to OEM tires being 225. Put 63,000 miles on the CX-5 with these tires and loved them. Traveled from northern Illinois to Florida (Naples) and Colorado (Winter Park) to visit family a few times, and many times up to Wisconsin for fishing or skiing. Perfect traction in snow, good solid ride, no hydroplaning in heavy rain. I do not trust the reviews I read about load tires and bad milage. Just traded the CX-5 in last week for a 2022 Rav4 XSE Hybrid. Picked it up on Saturday and had the comfort tires replaced with LTX M/S tires (again at plus 10 mils) on Monday. Better, more responsive and solid ride, and had a nice snowstorm on Thursday to really try them out. Great tires.

Great tires

Bought these tires about 2 weeks ago for my Toyota Tacoma (2001). 265/75 R16! My truck rides so much smoother now and the tires are really quiet! The steering is easier too! We had a couple of hard rains here and the tires were great in it! They seem to grip the road so much better now (dry pavement)! Now if they last as long as stated, you must buy these tires!
