I use my google home mini all the time to play music and to set timers when I'm cooking. It's awesome for turning out the lights when you're already in bed. It's very convenient. I know I haven't even begun to tap its potential, but I'm loving it so far.

This is the 2 nd Google Mini that we have bought. My Fiance has become obsessed with the "Smart" light bulbs hes bought 9 so far and has a different setting for each one. It's great to be able to turn on a light just by simply asking Google to turn it on. We can do all lights at once or just a specific lamp from 3 rooms away. If you don't have 1... I would definitely recommend it. IF you have a nerdy person to set it up. It definitely can be time consuming, but he enjoyed it so much he even set up a "Red Alert" to signal all lights to flash and turn Red in case of an emergency.

Bought for a friend with mobility issues. Her bedroom lamp is across the room and navigating, with a walker, in the dark, is not easy. This makes turning a light on effortless from anywhere in the room with a “hey Google, turn on light”. The added bonus of Google Home Mini's many talents such as radio, alarm clock or general question answerer are fabulous.
