After a recent purchase of Downy, my laundry and house immediately started smelling offensive. After closely studying the bottle, I noticed that Downy now calls itself a "CONDITIONER". It's apparent that the new designation resulted in a new scent... Multiple attempts were made to give the new scent a chance, but it became unbearable. I have been a faithful Downy fabric SOFTENER user my entire life. Now that Downy is a fabric CONDITIONER, the smell is horrendous. I did luck up and find some old, original SOFTENER at a store (I bought the only 2 SOFTENERs on the shelf) - but assume my Downy days are numbered. Unless the original scent is returned, I will have to find a new brand... :(

We have only every used the original April Fresh Downy. Picked up the bottle yesterday, used it today and thought maybe I grabbed the wrong brand. It smells horrible. I am now rewashing my load of laundry with the hopes that the strong perfume scent will come out. What a disappointment.

I've been using Downy for years and years...it's the ONLY fabric softener I have used! UNTIL NOW!! I bought Downy a few days ago...only looked for the April Fresh scent listed on it...washed my clothes, walked into my laundry room and couldn't believe the SMELL ...actually it smelled like old clothes that had been sitting around...or maybe a generic detergent! I examined the clothes...smelled my Cheer bottle...smelled the Downy and then knew what was wrong...looked at the label and saw FABRIC PROTECT! omg...it's HORRIBLE and CERTAINLY NOT APRIL FRESH! YOU GUYS MESSED UP WHEN YOU ADDED "PEARLS" a few years ago...but NOW YOU'VE LOST A CUSTOMER!!! (and by the looks of things, more than `1 ) It wasn't broke...why did you mess it up??? Unless you bring back the original/or even latest Downy, I won't be buying anymore! In fact, I'm hoping I'll be able to get my money back...going back to the store tomorrow!! THE SMELL OF THIS IS HORRIBLE....WHAT WERE YOU PEOPLE THINKING?? AND if you wash clothes properly, that will protect them enough...WE DON'T NEED YOU PROTECTING OUR CLOTHES!!!! Wondering if the dryer sheets are messed up, also??? LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FABRIC SOFTENER PRONTO!!!!

I've used April fresh for as long as I can remember. I'm in my 30s. My mom used the same scent as long as I can remember also. BUT something is different. I thought the packaging looked different but didn't think anything of it. Then when I opened it- whoa! The scent was overpowering. Washing a load of clothes with it fills my entire 2 story 2700 sq ft house with the smell. I'm not exaggerating. I don't even fill my downy or detergent to the first line of the cup. I never have (a professor filled us in on that once-washes the same and makes the bottle last longer) but the scent is ridiculously strong still. Not only is it strong but it's altered. Please. Please. Please change April fresh back to the clean classic smell.

I have a very sensitive sense of smell, and your April Fresh scent was the ONLY one I could use. When I caught the odor of the bottle of Downy I bought I thought I had mistakenly picked up the wrong scent. It is sharp and putrid and now is permeating thru my house. If I could return it, I would!!! I now have to go out and find another brand. PLEASE CHANGE THE SCENT BACK!!!!

We usually love love love this product but here recently it's like we've gotten a bad batch( by batch I mean 4-5 bottles). When used it seems to stain the clothes and you have to wash them back through a second time to get it out. Any other time It's great. We almost changed to a different fabric softener because of this.

I once LOVED April Fresh liquid fabric softener so very much... everything I washed smelled so amazing, like I never want to stop smelling it..... UNTIL RECENTLY! I don't know why Downy would change such an amazing smelling product... especially going to this HORRIBLE new smell! I will not be buying again unless they change it back. Been using Downy April Fresh for years-at least 35. My mom always used in our laundry and friends would complement me on how good my clothes smelled!! Please bring back the original scent!!! The new fragrance is too strong..smells like cologne, not fresh clean laundry. Product has also become too watery. Will definitely switch if original fragrance doesn't return...so sad!!!!!

My family has used April Fresh Ultra Downy for as long as we can remember. The recent changes have me and my family more than disappointed. Our trust in this company and product has been broken. We have horrid smelling clothing and linens and a pile of medical bills after we all had reactions to whatever this new junk product is that they are peddling as our beloved Downy. I came online to find out if the old formula was still being offered and if my store just wasn't carrying it but now I see we are not the only ones less than thrilled with these unnecessary changes. I am terrified to buy another bottle of Downy in a different fragrance as I am not sure I can trust what is inside. We have never used another fragrance other than April Fresh.
