Bertolli at great price

I make my own marinara sauce often but, I keep a jar of this Bertolli on hand for when I need a quick meal.  They use fresh garlic and other ingredients, which really makes a difference.  I loved their D'iItalia as well, but Walmart discontinued it.  I add some Italian sausage and it's great.  I can't see spending $8 or more for a jar of sauce when this is so good.

Best of the shelf brands!

Zero stars for packing glass jars loose w/no padding. Rec'd broken jar and quite a mess. Otherwise, 5 stars for the sauce.

Very flavorful. Just right for quick dinners. Product remains consistent in quality from purchase to purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bertoli Traditional Marinara with Italian Herbs & Fresh Garlic Sauce was a complete hit in my home. The flavor is very unique and Taste Home made! It has just the right blend of Herbs and Italian Spices! It is a great addition to any meal.

Terrible.  If you want thin, but chunky, sauce that tastes like nothing except the spices… then this is your sauce.  I used this sauce for chicken parm, and all I could taste was the seasonings. It was like they were added just before sealing the jar. Very disappointed.

Not good.

The bright tomato flavor is the star here, with FRESH garlic the best supporting actor.  The bright flavor makes it the best choice to enhance some proteins, like chicken or shrimp.  The difference between fresh and dried garlic is surprising.  The garlic is not overly strong, but the freshness  makes it stand out.  

My usual sauce is Rao's Homemade Marina, which I also love.  It has a heartier character that goes well with ground beef and sweet Italian sausage.  Each of the two sauces satisfy a different flavor profile to match my cravings.  

I usually add some or all of these flavors:  Mushrooms, fresh chopped onions, fresh ground black pepper, or red pepper flakes ( a little to brighten the flavor; more to bring the heat for an Arrabbiata sauce. )  

This bright Bertolli also makes an excellent choice for a pizza sauce!
