Uses Natural Gas!

I've used a generator in the past (in Tulsa) that ran on gas. But then our local gas stations lost power; I was hosed. But our natural gas service was never interrupted. Now I am in Texas with summer outages starting and I wanted a generator that would run on natural gas. Champion is the winner! The down side - I will not be able to run my grill. The up side - I will have power for two refrigerators, a freezer, two window units and my wife's cpap machine. And I will still have excess power if needed. And I do not have to pay an electrician to tie in to my house (which could be an options later). Could not do this with solar for 10 times the cost.

Great generator

Got this generator because we have natural gas at the house and seemed like a perfect fit. Took about 20 minutes to put get it set up once out of the box. Used it for the first time this week with no issues. Two fridges and pool hooked up and didn't even make a dent. If there was anything I would knock, just a little bit, is that its not the quietest generator I've ever heard but the 25 foot NG hose get it a bit away from the house. Overall great product. Haven't had to use gas or propane in it yet.

Just what we needed during Ian.

This generator worked well when we lost power during hurricane Ian. We used the natural gas option for it. While our neighbors were concerned with running out of fuel for theirs, we didn't have that problem. The directions made starting it easy and we ran it for a while. It is loud but we ran a refrigerator, deep freezer, and some small appliances off of it.

I Have High Hopes for This Generator

I just assembled the Generator yesterday (9-30-2021) and am in the process of contracting both an electrician and a plumber to perform the necessary installations. First of all, the generator took a long time to arrive. I ordered it on July 6, 2021 and it didn't arrive until 8-26-2021. This was probably due to the large number of disasters around the country and the demand must have been high. As I was in no particular hurry, this was not an issue for me. But, you might want to be aware of what disasters are occurring if you are in a hurry to get a generator. Delivery by the freight carrier was very professional and they arrived at the appointed time. Good communication. The generator arrived well protected and in good condition. It is one heavy piece of equipment. So, if you have to move it far, you will need help and a hand truck or dolly to move it. That or assemble it in the driveway and wheel it where you want it. (Freight companies will only deliver it as far as the driveway. All parts were included. I was under the impression that the electrical cord was included, but it was not. Be aware so that you can order one. Also, the NG hose was shorter than what I will need in order place the generator where I want it (20-25 ft.). So, I ordered another longer one. Neither of these issues is the fault of the manufacturer. But mention it FYI. The assembly would have been really simple if where you need to install the front supports and the wheels was more easily accessible. Some of the holes in the frame were underneath the battery bracket and holes for the wheels were behind other heavy components. This requires you to either jack up the generator or lay it on its side in order to make the installations. Neither is desirable. Other than the above, I am happy with my selection of this tri-fuel generator. I hope I never need it. But, have the peace of mind that, should disaster strike, I am prepared to protect my family..

I would reccomend & buy this Generator over again

Well, I bought my Generator for possible use during Hurricane IAN & I'm glad i did. It worked great, easy set up & electric start made it easy in the rain-wind. To test it I used the Propane option & then Gasoline during the storm. It ran just fine on both fuels. I had it power my A/C, Fridge, freezer, lights & misc items & later ran a cord to my neighbors to help him out. Little did I know I would need it again 30 days later for Hurricane Nicole. Again it fired right up, but luckily this time it got minimum use.

Seems Great!

I purchased this and put it together in less than 10 minutes. Came with everything I needed to connect to our home gas line and fire it up immediately. Is it wrong that it has me looking forward to the next power outage? High quality, easy to operate and sharp looking.

Impressed so far with this generator!

This product was very easy to assemble, after adding the necessary oil I connected the propane tank to it and it started right up and ran great. I can't wait to connect it to my natural gas line to not have to worry about finding fuel during or after a storm again.

Very nice product.

After spending Christmas weekend powerless and single digits outside, it was time. I chose this for the natural gas option since I hate using gasoline in anything not used regularly. Fouled engines are too much any longer. It will run most of my home and an apartment attached. It is a bit louder than i expected but I may build a foam shelter for it. The number of outlets is just fine. Maybe a RV outlet would be nice.

Appliances will not run with this generator.

I bought the Tri-Fuel model, piped natural gas to it, and connected it to the electrical panel with an interlock kit. It works well, but my furnace fails to run. The dishwasher throws an error, but we can do without that during an emergency. The furnace, a Lennox SLP98UHV generates an error code (126) indicative of internal controller communication failure. Now I am in the process of sizing a UPS or DC power supply and inverter to place between the circuit breaker and the furnace power supply. It's a challenge because no one has stated the actual problem or solution. Is it the varying frequency, or simply the THD? The HVAC company says to speak to the generator manufacturer and Lennox tech support will only speak to a dealer and not the customer. I believe without specifications from appliance manufacturers how do you determine the solution. Is an inverter generator the solution in all cases? Perhaps not. And their output tends to be limited. Is a whole house standby the solution? It would be great if Champion could produce cleaner power, offer optional accessories to clean it up, or recommendations to solve it. Even provide recommended uses for their generators that might help someone make the right purchase decision. People have been using portable generators for years; obviously the older appliances are more tolerant. Our HVAC company has been getting calls from many customers. We'll see where this goes.

We are sorry to hear this. Typically, high efficiency furnaces require generators that produce lower total harmonic distortion. This generator will put out the standard THD rating of about 12%-20% depending on load applied. They will produce a sine wave, not a modified or square wave. This is perfectly acceptable for running common commodities found in your home such as TVs, computers, your appliances, etc. THD is a measure of the deviation of a sine wave from a "pure" sine wave. All electricity, including line electricity, has measurable THD. If you have a specific item that requires less than 5% THD such as a UPS style battery backup, a pellet stove or high efficiency furnace control board, we recommend purchasing a Champion Inverter Generator (sizes from 1600W to 3500W); Champion Open Frame Inverters (sizes from 3500W to 8750W); or a Champion Home Standby Generator (range from 8.5KW to 14KW); all units provide a less than 5% THD. Consult your Appliance Manufacturer to determine if it will require a less than 5% THD power source. For any additional questions you may have, please give us a call at 1-877-338-0999 or send us an email at support@cpeauto.com. Thank you.

Off to a great start

Purchased this tri fuel 10000 starting watt/8000 continuous watt to run a domestic well pump and provide power to house during power outages. Started right up and ran great during testing for this purpose. Love the multitude of fuel options it provides.
