The Paw Patrol, Paw Patroller is a nice sturdy toy. I received this product as a promotion.
Usage: We have had this in the house for approximately 3 weeks. I had never heard of Paw Patrol but my daughter, surprisingly, had. The first week my daughter (5 yrs) played with it for less than an hour total and quickly became bored as there was only one figure to play with. My 1 year old son on the other had likes to play with it daily, as much as any other toy for short periods of time. The truck itself does not turn well and cannot do much other than make a racket on the wood floors and transform the trailer into an operations center with a manually operated elevator that slides well but does not lock in the upright position easily. The transformation consists of rotating a locking mechanism disguised as the Paw Patrol emblem then flipping the trailer open. The emblem is also the “Racket Maker” bursting out several different sounds.
Assembly: Easy: The assembly is minimal requiring only the stickers. The instructions also state to replace the included 3 LR44 Batteries with new ones, which I have not done as they seem to work fine for the time being. The stickers were easily placed; however, after placing the stickers I was left with 2 additional stickers with nowhere to put them, kind of like an Ikea product.
Construction: Strong: While the age on the box says 3+ years old, my one year old was interested in it but did not play with it. He has as of yet in the last 3 weeks not broken it owing to its sturdy construction. The wheels and axles seem strong even under the weight of a 20lb child belly flopping on top of it.
Packaging: Misrepresented: The packaging is quite large and features Ryder and his vehicle on an externally mounted platform in the corner of the box, a nice touch. The Packaging is somewhat misleading though. At first glance it shows a picture of the truck and 7 other Paw Patrol characters and their vehicles. Initially I was impressed that this came with so many things. On closer inspection, it states Ryder and vehicle included and then in very small text “additional figures and vehicles sold separately.
Value: Good: At $50 this is a good value. However, it would take much more of an investment into the Paw Patrol Regime to actual have an enduring, well attended toy.
Overall: The toy is a well-made piece and would be a welcomed addition to the avid Paw Patrol collector. The packaging, while placarded to avoid misrepresentation, is misleading.
