Better Quality Needed

The Penington Nature's Heat Pellets have a lot of ash and the quality of the burn have decreased over the years. It is hard to find quality pellets on the East Coast.

Damaged bags

The pellets themselves are awesome, but we had 4 bags damaged by the forklift and 5 bags the factory seal was bad on so they were open. We lost at least 2 full bags from the damage and the rest got moisture into them.

Great for the price

Although this is a premium wood pellet, there are a bit more "fines" in this year's product than last year. Otherwise this is just what the pelllet stove likes.

Burn great. Plenty of heat.

I have used these pellets this past winter as my only heat source and they worked great. Price was the best and I hope they are available next season.

We love these pellets!

Got our pellet stove about 3 years ago & was happy to know that Sam's sold pellets. But after using a bag we were beyond satisfied. Sam's please don't stop selling these pellets. Great burn, low ash & last longer.

I am a hearth product dealer and burn 1 pellet stove at home. I have tried 15 different types of pellets, and will only use the pennington brand. I tell all my customers that they should also,at times i travel 50 miles to get them when local supplys run out.

seems to be working just fine

have used these pellets before, my local wood stove/pellet stove dealer was my source. They stopped selling Pennington a couple of years ago so I bought what they had. I was satisfied with the other brand. However, the ownership changed hands and I am NOT fond of the new owners. I noticed Wal-Mart had Pennington so I bought them. Very satisfied, and they sent folks out to help load the bags into our truck and Jeep that was very appreciated. plan on ordering more when I will be going to my local Wal-Mart. Pennington brand I trust, you must be careful what pellets you buy, lousy pellets will cause you many headaches and you will be shutting down your stove and cleaning it a LOT more frequently if you do not buy good quality pellets.

Great, but not perfect. Here's the good and bad.

Priced better than most, convenient. If Walmart is out, don't expect anyone else to have any (time saver, you're sol). Careful about bottom pallet bags, sometimes wet/swollen or ripped. Sometimes bags are dustier than usual (I think normal). Burns nice, tho not best I've had (2 bags day at setting 3/5 on 2200 sq ft stove). Main issue, must check basket for build up, twice a week this will happen. When unchecked, will keep piling up and burn out of control. This is due to hard lava-rock type clusters that suddenly appear blocking holes in basket. They get as big as an egg. If not for this reason alone, I might have given this 5 stars. But this is both annoying and dangerous in my opinion. As soon as you see build up, consider clearing the basket right away with a screwdriver to get more time beforebefore having to fully clean stove. Does ash glass faster than other brands, but easy to clean.

Best Pellets Ever!

These are, by far, the best pellets I've ever bought. Over the years I've used Hammer's Hot Ones from a local stove store, and this year I've used all of the brands that my local Lowes has carried: Green Supreme, North American Pellets, Green Team Premium Grade, and Inferno Pellets. All pale in comparison to what I purchased last night at a local Walmart. Here in CT, it's still chilly at night in April and I was extremely disappointed to find that as of mid-March, not a Lowes or a Home Depot in the entire State of CT had any pellets left at all. (I either called or went to every store). I understand the need to transition to Spring gear in those Big Box stores but keeping a few pallets lying around through April shouldn't really be an issue for them. I had no idea that Walmart even carried wood pellets until I did a quick Google search last night for retailers. I found several Walmarts that had plenty in stock; one located 10 minutes from my house. The pellets were noticeably darker in color and felt harder. When I emptied the 40lb bag into the stove hopper I was overwhelmed that for the first time I wasn't covered in a cloud of pellet dust. There wasn't an ounce of dust in that bag. The pellets burned much cleaner, hotter and longer than any pellets I've ever purchased before. Pennington all the way for me now. I'm hoping they sell them by the pallet for next year. Shame on you Lowes and Home Depot....
