I really enjoyed putting this set together! It was a very quick build (1.5 hr), but really fun. The detail is great, & it will reside right next to the Amelia Earhart Tribute set (another enjoyable build). Look forward to any other possible sets of this ilk in the future.

My grandson is 14 and has been building Lego sets since he was 3. He loves building and designing Lego sets, and I wanted to get him a set that was unique and a bit challenging. This set took him about an hour to build, and he said it was very easy. The instructions were perfect and easy to follow. The final result is an amazing and functional flying machine. There is a trigger mechanism on the bottom of the flying machine that makes the wings and tail flap like a bird. My grandson commented that he knows why the Flying Machine never got off the ground, after looking at the design. It's a great learning tool, as well as a fun set to build and keep in his room. Highly recommended for Lego builders with some expertise in building Lego sets.

This set is really interesting to learn about Leonardo’s flying machine. The mechanism you build with the set are very interesting and works really well. The whole set is nice and looks great. It’s not difficult to assemble but requires patience because it has a lot of small pieces. I enjoyed building this LEGO set.

This set was full of custom pieces and great information when Leo was building this invention. Truly the maker of the set put pure love into it and I thank her for doing so. I've would done the same. No stickers just string and 3 fabric for the set. Adding this set as one of my favorite build, display, and mechanical favorites! Each of the major steps provides you with a fun and unique build experience. The stand build helps in not only the display process, but in utility to build the steps that follow. Wow, and the end step weaves it all together with the creatively engineered string (which is sturdy) to enable the flapping action. Hey, it doubles as a fancy fan for all the Steampunk cosplayers (and the Series 27 Steampunk figure accompanies it so good!). It isn't nearly as complex as I thought it would be. Pace yourself and enjoy the thoughtfully crafted tribute to this Flying Machine. I enjoyed the nuggets of history and the Leonardo da Vinci minifigure is amazing, complete with the sketch brick of the Flying Machine's plans. Recommended and a keeper for the LEGO display (as long as you can resist flapping around with it!).

A beautiful masterpiece of Lego design & engineering. The final product looks far more complex than the build itself, thanks to the usual excellent Lego instructions. About 2 hours to finish, and I can’t stop smiling. Thanks Lego, more inventions with a historical twist please.

I was very anxious to get a hold of this new set and was not disappointed. As an aviation nut this was right up my alley. It took me a couple of hours to assemble. Because of all the moving parts I was constantly going back to the instructions to make sure I got it right and at times it was hard to see the right location of some of the sub-assemblies but with a few go-backs to correct my errors the final result was outstanding - especially the mechanical flapping of the wings. Well done Lego!

Overall I would recommend this set - the end outcome is really impressive. The directions could have been clearer, specifically bags 3 and 4 related to the wings. Fortunately I caught some of the gaps and was able to assemble the wings fully at the end of the build (attaching from wings with string to the main body).

Some of the picture instructions do not adequately show angles that allow the average builder to fully understand how mechanical parts should be inserted. Step 121 is a great example of what im referring to. Without the app to move the view of the model, I'd think some builders my struggle.

This build was my first for 2025. Easily the most fun build I’ve had in quite awhile. Easy to follow instructions, low part count made it a quick, easy, and simple build. Highly recommend this for people just starting out or just wanting to add to their collection.
