Chipped corners and weird assembly

It's pretty good overall, but the negative things would be that most of the particle boards that it came with were damaged on the corners due to the whole thing being shipped in a crappy box so they all had chipped corners. Also, there's like a top and bottom bar that connect only using one of the shelves, so it wasn't that secure. Its hard to attach by yourself; you would need another person to hold up the bars when trying to connect the shelf.

Quality and Design Issues

Out of the box, the metal pieces already had light rust and some were twisted, but not so badly they couldn't be fixed by a large rubber mallet. The particle board shelves are lightweight and the corners chip easily if you are not careful when dropping them in place during assembly. The legs are made of 2 pieces, 3 feet long. They are connected by sharing the shelf rail rivets at the splice. Because the ends of the posts do not line up well due to the thin material, it is difficult to get the rivets in place and seated correctly. It literally takes 4 hands to do this. A separate splice angle would have worked MUCH better and would also produce a stronger joint. After assembly, we loaded the bottom shelf to about 250 lbs (its supposed capacity) and noted significant deflection (about 3/8") in the 4 foot span. All things considered, if you want a lot of shelf surface for a low price, this is an OK solution. But if you want something sturdy that can safely carry significant loads (like 250 lbs per shelf on every shelf), then I suggest you look elsewhere.

Can't believe the bang for the buck!

1st of all, I agree to it being heavy, but if the shipper/handler treats it well (like they did mine), it arrives fine and in a manageable way. I put it together by myself in about an hour or less. It was simple and can't believe how well this thing is made! The wood sits flat and snug. No tools required except to tap the ends down (way easy). I still don't understand how they ship it for free. It says 102lbs shipping weight, but mine said 82lbs. Anyways, buy these non stop until they run out! You will not regret it! PS, the photo provided was done today after I put my motorcycle stuff on it.

Best Shelving!

Great Price for how big this come, way bigger than expected about 6 feet tall with a good width. I put together myself no tools needed, I am 4'11" female and it can be challenging doing by yourself, better if you had another hand to help. The most difficult part for me is the placing of the wood shelf, it had to come from above to be placed down and with a bit of weight. I used a step stool ladder so it helped and worked out for me. The quality is not the greatest on the wood it came some chipped on the corners but for the price you get what you pay for. The metal also on two out of 8 I guess was slightly bent although I didn't need to use any tools to re-shape it, it gave me a bit of a hard time lining it up properly. This comes heavy weight with all the metal bars so when getting ready to open I suggest slowly place down to avoid chipping the wood because there is no support or foam to separate metal with the wood. Also I suggest install closer to where you plan to place it because there is no plastic "thing" that you can place at the bottom of each post so when I had to move it against the wall, metal screech on the floor and may scratch as well depending on what floor you have. This is my second purchase and much cheaper than the first time with it on sale for $59.00 you can't beat that. I highly recommend it great for garage use.

Recommend Item but Not Shipping It To Home

I already have one of these shelves and wanted two more for my garage so I order them to be shipped directly to my home. The 1st delivery was aborted by the shipper due to package damage. They attempted the 2nd delivery but the shelves were crushed and framing sticking out of box so I refused the delivery. I contacted Walmart CS and they kindly expedited out a new delivery. I informed the CS Associate that the corrugate was inadequate for direct shipping that advising the warehouse of that might prevent further loss but when the replacement was received, it was the original packaging with the framing sticking out of both boxes and both ends of each box was open and crushed. I refused the delivery and Walmart suggested we cancel the order. IF you can handle 103 pounds per box, I recommend trying the Store to Store delivery (Assuming it would be in better shape however, I have no way to transport that weight so won't be ordering this product further through Walmart).

Steel Shelving

We ordered 2 of these units for the garage in our new house. My husband put them together in less than 30 minutes. They seem to be quite sturdy and are deep enough to hold our recycling bins. We plan on getting a few more. The shelves are made of a heavy duty pressed board with steel rods and rails. I will probably put some thick plastic sheeting on the bottom shelf to protect it from the damp that comes in from the vehicles and dogs etc. Really happy with these so far and can't wait to get more and get our garage organized...finally! Thanks!

I bought a lot of these to organize a very large work space. It is good quality, but... I would spend the extra $10 to get the better shelving from Sam's. The boards seem thinner than expected. The more expensive shelving has a better locking system to put the upper level together. The more expensive shelving like this from Sam's is finished for a more business look, better quality black shelves.

Lousy Directions

We put three of these racks together. The directions are completely useless so we had to go on Youtube to find a video to help (thank you you to the guy that created the video). It definitely is easier with two people to put this together. Once the wood shelves went in they seem sturdy enough. This is perfect for my garage and has really helped clean up the space. I would recommend them, but just know you might need some help with directions especially putting the second story side bar on.

Heavy duty shelf a little hard to assemble.

I bought 3 of these shelves from Walmart.com, although shipping it to my local store was delayed a few days, and they still can't find one of them at the store. The parts seem substantial. The actual shelf is 1/2" pressed board, supported on all 4 edges by a formed steel rail that connects to the vertical posts with rivet heads that have large heads which fasten via keyhole slots in the vertical posts. The only thing where I think they cut a corner on design is that the posts are 3 feet long, so they require 2 of them end to end to make each 6-foot post. Assembling them end to end is a bit tricky, as they have to be held butted together while you assemble the rails, one rivet in the end keyhole of each 3-foot post. It's difficult to do without extra hands. Also, this forces one shelf to be at the 3-foot mark (middle). So the shelves are not quite as flexible as I expected. Typically, you'll end up with one shelf at the bottom, one in the middle and one at the top. Only the remaining 2 shelves will be "adjustable." Once assembled, it seems acceptably sturdy.
