Size and price are great but the boards are bad

It is supposed to hold up to 800lbs per shelf if you distribute weight evenly. Well it doesn't or at very least it bows badly in the center. The boards that come with are only 1/2"particle board and without support in the center it sags. So we had to buy a sheet of plywood and cut to fit which fixed the problem. Also assembly of the top section of the racks to the bottom section was a major pain in the butt. Definitely could not do it with just one person. Other than that, for those minor issues, the price and size was ideal.

Terrible Shelf!!!

Terrible! I ordered this shelf from walmart. The installation is simple, HOWEVER when you get halfway, you do not have any support to old the lower posts to the upper posts which results in the corner beams falling. I had to use the whole shelf as halves, so half on the floor and the other half on the floor as well. The purpose was the have the top shelves on top of the lower shelves. But it is a danger as you do not have anything to hold them together.

Poor quality!

I returned this shelf before taking it all out if the box. After taking out one thin, cheaply made, unfinished particle board slat, I knew it was not worth the money I paid for it. It was already chipped from shipping and looked weaker than a veneer tv stand shelf. This item is definitely not made to last long

Junk

This might be a decent storage unit but the way it is packaged for shipping is a joke.It arrived a ll taped up and missing some of the parts. I will be shipping it back as soon as I can box it up, the s ame as they shipped it to me, What a joke, I should have believed the reviews that I read on this item, a waste of time for all involved

Not recommended

Not nearly as sturdy as the Muscle Rack that's 18” deep. But the main problem is that the image shows the item with coupling brackets connecting the upper and lower posts, and there weren't any either in the pkg or listed as included components on the Instructions paper. This makes it VERY difficult to assemble and we decided to return it.

Overrated

This unit is rated at 4000 lbs or 800 lbs per shelf. First the shelf material is made of 5/16" particle board and sawgs when anything over a few pounds is placed on the shelf. The rails are of light steel and I question their ability to hold 4000 lbs. I ordered 2 units and both were received in damaged condition and the coupler, used to build the rails to their full size were missing. The packaging was inadequate for the weight and open in several locations and in contents moved around. N fact the rails in one box was sticking out. I called it in to customer service and was promised the missing parts but no replacement for the two damaged shelves. I would not recommend this unit

Challenging to Put Together

I have purchased other similar shelves. These were by far more difficult to put together. With the other shelves, I could put them together by myself. With these shelves, two of us struggled to put the units together; three pairs of hands would have been ideal. This is because the metal pieces aren't as hefty as other units. Once assembled, the unit works okay. Comparatively, the price was more favorable.

Unsafe & Terrible Product

Simply put this product is awful even with less than 50 pounds per shelf. Firstly the construction of it while easy, was rather irritating to by your self it requires a second set of hands to hold parts in place while trying to place the metal beams that end up holding up the edges of the shelves. Second the design of the vertical post for the top half requires balance thin pieces of metal on top of the lower half. I see this as being just one weak point to the overall design. Next problem would be the beams and shelving material. The boards are flimsy and can easily break, and the beams flex when under load causing the shelving boards to fall off the beam and collapse onto the shelf below it. We purchased 5 of these units to store our extra inventory and placed 50-100 pounds per shelf. And we started to have trouble instantly with the boards sagging and falling off the beams. Finally we had two shelving units completely collapse. Starting with an upper shelf failing and causing a chain reaction to the bottom shelf crushing our inventory and destroying the shelving units in the process. The ONLY redeeming factor that these shelves has the customer service from Edsal themselves but even that is not worth buying these shelves. they are unsafe, poorly designed, and will collapse in less than 2 weeks with less than 15% of their load capacity. I can not stress enough that these shelves are unfit for sale and should be removed from the Sam's Club website.

shelves need to be thicker

Ok, so for regular storage, these are great for the price! On the bottom shelves though, the can bend, bow, or even break pretty easily- within weeks of trying to put a bin or two on the lower shelves. We actually took the lower shelf out on one of our sets so we could just put a tough box down there- not great, but the shelf broke with the heavier weight (but not like 100 lbs or anything)- maybe 40-50 . But for the most part, they are good enough for everyday storage in your garage/utility... just plan on watching the weight limits and spacing the heavy stuff out. For example you can put paint cans, but maybe not a bunch on on the same shelf- maybe 3-4 at most, and not in the middle.

Awesome shelves

This is an awesome shelving unit especially for the price. I only paid $59 each and the shipping was free. I put the first one together in about 20 minutes and the second in maybe 10. I am planning to buy at least one more. The shelves are two feet wide and hold a ton of stuff and look great. The only glitch was that both boxes were missing a total of 8 couplers which is needed to attach the posts so I called customer service and they are shipping the items. I couldn't wait a week for delivery so I attached the posts with bolts and it worked fine. I definitely recommend these shelves through Walmart.com and these same exact shelves are also available at Home Depot but they cost $20 more!
