How to take plastic from tiers out.

All and all the cake and icing were superb. Tasted great. But the cake was ruined when I separated the tiers and the plastic was taken out of the bottom tier. The cake fell apart and the icing came off. My cake only had 2 tiers, what happens with more then 2 tiers. The cost was 60.00 and this should not have happened. Maybe a cake knife be included also for the cost of the cake
