These are a good size, the light is bright enough to attract the insects yet not so bright it's distracting. The cover has an opening at the bottom that allows the insects to enter from below instead of only from the back. It's well made and sturdy and the inserts are easy to replace without accidentally touching the active side. I checked prices and they are more economical than the others currently in stores in my area. As for how they work. We get fruit flies every now and then due to a neighbors unofficial compost. It usually takes us a week to eradicate them from our home when they get in. We plugged this in and within a couple minutes the 4 we had seen left from the last bout were trapped on the pad.
