As someone extremely sensitive to the aftertaste of artificial sweeteners, I was hesitant to try yet another sugar substitute. This monk fruit sweetener converted me, and I no longer use sugar at all. Pros: This is a great substitute in any baking I've tried so far, including muffins, cakes, pies, cheesecakes, breads, brownies, and freezer jams. I also use it to make full pitchers of sweet tea (yes, southern style) and daily in my hot tea. I notice no difference in the taste compared to sugar, and it is truly a 1 to 1 equivalent. Cons: In larger quantities, like in baking sweets, the erythritol adds a cooling sensation I notice when eating them, kind of like a milder York Peppermint Patty. Although the flavor of the baked good isn't altered, the sensation is distracting and I don't really like it. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I want to try the monk fruit sweetener without erythritol to see if that suits me better. There is very little information out there on how this product can be used in place of sugar in other applications, like canning, simple syrups, and candies (does it thread, ball, or crack?). And I'm hesitant to try it in shelf stable jams/jellies/butters because I can't find any information on its safety in home canning. I've stopped using sugar at home completely.

Monkfruit has no nasty after-taste like I get from stevia. And this version is granulated and measures just like regular sugar. Very easy to use -- no guesswork to get the correct amount of sweetness. And it provides a satisfying little crunch when I use it on cereal or cinnamon toast!

Works well in most recipes. Awesome way to add sweetness without the sugar high. Better nutrition? I sure hope so; only time will tell. Sometimes 1:1 ratio I find that Monkfruit tastes toooo sweet and overpowers the flavor of the recipe. Am learning how to adjust it.

This product is amazing! It is the closest sweetner to sugar that I have ever had! I love the stuff and just bought 2 3lbs bags! Can't wait to make some lemonade and have some coffee once again! I am a big fan! With Lakanto, I can indulge my huge sweet tooth without guilt!
