Outstanding grass seed mix

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Used this grass seed last year to fill bare spots and areas where I removed bushes from my yard. The seed grew better than expected and I will use it again this year. Highly recommend it.

Reliable

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This lawn seed is the fastest growing with the least amount of weeds I have ever used. It survives even our harsh winters and summers with very little water.

Inconsistent results

This product produced the worst results of any product I have ever used on the lawn. The results were highly inconsistent. The best patches are very thin and some areas are still bare.

We are sorry that you have had problems while using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. Generally, we recommend seeding in early autumn when soil temperatures are still warm and there is no danger of frost for at least a month. Temperature plays a critical role in seedling germination. Soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees and no warmer than 75 degrees for your seed to germinate. If you sow your seed when the soil temperature is too hot or too cold, the seed will wait until ideal conditions are present. As long as you do not experience a sudden change in temperature after germination begins, you could still experience the great results you expected from our seed. One major "enemy" of a newly seeded lawn is herbicide. Make sure that no weed control or weed prevention product has been used in the area, as those products will also prevent or inhibit germination. When used on newly germinated lawns, herbicides will kill off the new grass. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee to our consumers. At your earliest convenience please contact us to see what can be done. You may visit our contact page by clicking on the following link http://tinyurl.com/7ag7a3n

grass didn't grow

I purchased this see because of the scots name. I planted in 3 different location in my yard. All different soils. It has been 6 weeks, how long does it take to sprout!! What a waste of my money. I will be sending you back the remaining product.

We apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced when using Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix. This particular product usually has a lot of success stories from users, but it is helpful when we get reviews like yours to help us produce quality seed. Here are a few tips to consider when growing in the future. For Cool Season grasses like Bluegrass, Ryegrass, and different types of Fescues soil temperatures must be at least 55 degrees (+12.7 Celsius) for grass seed to germinate and can take between 4 -21 days to see germination. Warm season grasses like Bermudagrass, Centipede and Zoysia, which germinates in early summer, requires soil temperatures between 75 - 90 degrees (24 - 32 Celsius) and can take between 5-28 days to see visible germination. Watering also plays a defining factor in germination. We recommend watering 1-2 times a day until germination is visible and then watering 1- 1 ½” per week as needed. Both excessive watering and not enough watering can slow down or even stop germination of the product. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at http://tinyurl.com/mds8zo5 and one of our representatives would be glad to assist you. We hope this issue has not caused you to lose faith in Scotts Turf Builder Grass Seed Sun & Shade Mix, as we use reviews like yours to maintain and improve the quality product that you and other consumers have come to know and love.
