I hate Turbotax

The more I use Turbotax, the more I hate it. Here is why I hate Turbotax: 1) Turbotax does not cover some tax situations...OK, maybe not the end of the world--but the problem is that Turbotax doesn't even tell you that it does not cover certain issues. Based on some of my entries, it was obvious that I needed to fill out another form, but Turbotax does not include that form and did not tell me that I should research it. So my return was materially incorrect and I had to file an amended return. 2) Sooooo many niggling but very frustrating data entry issues....I finished my taxes, I had Turbotax review things for errors--no problems, great! I print all my returns! I go to e-file and Turbotax says "you can't efile because we need more info..." So what do I have to provide? Only an EIN (not provided) from a 1099-Div, because the 1099-Div included. Except the 1099-Div DID NOT include any withholding (actually it had "0"), and the EIN was not provided on the 1099-Div...so I can't e-file my taxes. So after googling for 45 minutes, I come to find that Turbotax counts "0" as withholding, and to avoid this error I have to delete the zero and leave it blank. None of this was explained in Turbotax, and it is hard to understand what kind of moron would count "0" as an amount? There were many similar issues in completing my tax return. Given that you've been selling this software for 30 years now or whatever, it should be pretty much bug-free at this point, but it is far from it.

Need to Polish the Handling of Common Investment

You are quite good on the standard tax issues. However, the product feels not finished or polished to handle common exception items for investments like wash sales, the usage of disallowed losses, the treatment of government securities and the handling of sepa contributions. It requires a lot of reading and figuring out how to make inputs for this

Great product for tax preparers

I've used TTX for many, many years and am thoroughly satisfied with it. I've found that since I've used the product for so many years, preparing returns is not a difficult task, no matter the difficulty of the Cx' return. Please don't ruin TTX as you did with QBDT.

TuboTax always been my tax partner

Always reliable, whether using online or the desktop version. Incredibly easy interface, prompting questions are always relavent and accurate to my tax situation. Mac compatible, too! Love the new AI generated fetures and the reporting options. Thanks as always!!

Highly Recommend

So easy to do my taxes and they are complicated. The program really does cover everything. Inputing data was easy. I was prepaid. Printing of returns is awesome. I just save everything to PDF and then can print. I also like that I can import last years taxes into the current year I am working on.

I dont like TurboTax

TurboTax is too cumbersome to use and they try to sell unnecessary services every step of the way. They charge $25 dollars to file state tax returns. I cant wait for a competing product that will make TurboTax irrelevant and I'll never have to use this product again

Turbo Tax needs work.

Mandatory review for updates prior to filing should be removed. You have an option to update at the beginning of the program every time you log in. Prince - support tech was awesome in helping me resolve a problem related to above. Almost lost all my work just prior to filing because updates were not working. Absolutely should not happen!! Get your act together Turbo Tax people!!

Make some changes

I've used TT several years, and someone really needs to go through the program carefully. I am a computer expert, and I can see numerous places where info is left out. I realize you want to make money having an expert help with taxes, but clarity is important for those of us who can do it.

Be Careful of hidden fees

Reasonable tax return software. Would score higher except for constant upselling and the worst part is hidden fees. Decided to pay for the state efile this year - especially with a $10 club credit towards it. Went to pay with credit card and they wanted to bill me the full $25. So, backed all the way out of that and chose paying it from my refund - and immediately got hit with a processing fee of $40 on top of the $25 (although on this path they did give me the $10 credit for a total cost of $55) So, google searched and found the processing fee only applies when using the take it from my refund option. So backed out again, paid the credit card and I guess lost my $10 credit. The $40 fee, especially not being disclosed up front, seems extremely abusive to me.

It Gets Worse Each Year

Many years ago, we barely had to enter into information onto the actual tax forms. Now, it seems that we are cross-referencing information and entering amounts into the tax returns ourselves more and more. Each year, the software provides less assistance.
