They are "paint effect" water-based acrylic "brush style" markers that really "pop" on both dark and light surfaces without blending with each other or bleeding through the page; they are even water and fade resistant. Speaking of surfaces, they work on SO many, including: paper, metal, wood, ceramics, rocks, canvas, etc etc. I have used them to swatch on paper (pictured), done lettering/calligraphy on paper and doodled on ceramics and canvas... all have been with great success! The markers are opaque, saturated, and vivid, and the color flows very easily. The markers are also comfortable in the hand. Overall, these are a huge recommend!!!

I noticed that the colors don't blend when you paint over other colors, but they won't cover pencil lines. Also, the water-resistant feature is a total game-changer for my art projects. The marker tip feels like a brush, which is nice on paint surfaces but can scratch a bit. They work great on metal surfaces too. Just a heads up, the red color leans towards a pinkish shade. One important thing to remember is to shake the markers before using them and store them horizontally, as instructed. Once you get the hang of it, they're super easy to use. I've used them on paper and metal and they always deliver great results.
