Fiberglass tent poles splinter

We bought this as a Christmas present for our 4 year old. He was very excited when we put the tent up for him to play in. Within a few hours the tent poles had splintered causing them to bend and making the tent unplayable, and dangerous for the kids. The rest of the set was nice, but the tent was very disappointing.

great tent bad poles

The tent is a vertical cute set my daughters love it. The biggest worry I have is that I was adjusting the tent poles while it was erected and shards of fiberglass are now stuck in my hands. I'm worried if any of that were to get in my kids eyes as they are playing with it so unfortunately I will probably not put it back up after I take it down.
