Not what it used to be

We bought 6 sets a few years back. This year, we reorganized and needed two more full sets. You can tell they switched how they were made. They used to be thick and slightly soft on the colored side. Now they are thin and made with a rock-hard cheap material. Sadly, they do not fit into the old one exactly either. I was disappointed in what these have become. They used to be great but not worth it anymore.

A must-have for a playroom

I bought one set of these for the play area at my house when my first grandson became mobil because I didn't want him falling or cruising on the hardwood floors. I liked them so much I bought a set for my daughter's house for him for the same reason. Since then, I purchased a second set for my house to enlarge the play area and when the third grandson came I bought a set for my other daughter. These mats are GREAT!!! They hold up welI (the original set is 3 years old), easy to pick up, easy to clean and all the grandsons think they are fun to pull apart and put back together like a big easy puzzle!!

Best Purcase ever

I bought this item again, this time 4 years later and 2 more packs. The best tiles ever. I use them outside for playground (under swings, at the end of the slide) and in the summer, under inflatable pool. I got it for my child 4 yrs ago & needed more to go around the pool. We washed old ones w/soft brush and water and they looked like new again!

Just what I was looking for

I've used these mats in a large office/workshop area in my basement and a couple of storage areas (pseudo attic). It's very inexpensive when you calculate $/sq ft. They provide great comfort for standing long periods of time. They're soft yet durable for the kids to play on. They clean up really well (we use a Roomba and it works great). I'm seriously thinking of replacing the carpet in my son's room with some of these. They interlock very tightly. The kids can put holes in them if they dig into them with something sharp (so keep some extras handy). My only "con" is the color - I really wish you could buy them in a more neutral lighter color or at least one "bright" color per package.

Minor issues with a great product

I want to share this so others will know what to expect. I purchased 10 packs to cover a room we'll use as a gym. This product (available from many companies at variuos price levels) works excellent for a gym floor. Feels good to walk on, holds heavy equipment stable and they don't "settle down into" the mat. This particular brand has some thickness and density variation among tiles. The Yellow ones were 1/16" thicker than all the others, and are just a bit firmer than the others. Laying this down as all black...the height difference is visibly noticable. I don't think it's a tripping hazard. Personally, I'm fine with it. Our last gym using this type of material looked better, but cost more also. finally, for those who've never used this type of flooring before: Once you choose Color side up, or black side up, you must stay with that orientation throughout. You can not "flip" an occassional tile the other way. Now you know what to expect.

Used to be a smoking deal

These are great in our gyms... we can move them around whereever we want them, easily trim them to fit and they provide universal cushioning for bare feet belonging to children. It seems to me they've gone up a bit on pricing and down in quantity over the eight years we've used them but I still don't see anything comparable out there. All the other mattings are WAY overpriced.

We love mats. If one get's damaged you just remove and put another in it's place. However, we discovered that if put on a bare concrete floor that over time they turn the concrete into dust and leave the impression ont the puzzle piece edges. Some type of chemical reaction. Do not put on bare concrete for an extended lenght of time. No reaction has occured on our carpet or tile floors. Smile

Absolutely Love!!

We bought these tiles for our living room that has hard wood flooring. We have 9 month old twins and these are great for them to lay, crawl and play on without getting bruised up from the hard floor. I love these so much I am buying a second one to snap together to cover our whole living room. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Colorful way to protect equipment

If you drop things, these mats are a fabulous way to protect what you drop, from harm. As you probably know, Windows computers are very incompatible, so one ends up needing more than one, and then must exchange peripherals between them. Okay, so what if you drop the peripheral en route? That was my problem. These colorful interlocking mats thus protect my stuff from damage. Colors are true crayon red, yellow, green, and medium blue. I bought three sets, and will probably buy more. Great way to cover a concrete floor at almost no cost. The best thing about these mats is their smooth interlocking edge pieces: you can mix and match these, to make a patterned edging which then makes the arrangement of the puzzle-piece mats, look more professional. They greatly cheer up a room -- even, a room full of computers. The flipside is a dark charcoal gray, if you like "dull" flooring. Interlocking is great. Allows you to 'shape' the mats to suit whatever space you want matted. And, when inevitably the mats age, you can simply cover them with some area rugs, which then render the rugs themselves, more comfortable. Or, put them in the bathroom or kitchen. The only cons? 1) would like it if these mats were also available in more neutral colors, like a warm cream (light, to reflect light); 2) would like it if these mats didn't have a diamond surface, which makes them somewhat harder to clean. However, these cons aren't significant enough to delay purchase.
