Michelin Defender LTX M&S never disappoints

You get what you pay for, and the Michelin Defender LTX M&S are by no means the cheapest tire out there. I have tried many other brands of tires, but always come back to this one. If you looking for smooth, quiet ride, good traction & long wear look no further. Over 10K miles driven so far, I fully expect to get nearly 50K out of every set and I never let the tread levels wear down completely on my tires. I drive a mix of highway miles, windy mountain roads, rocky/dirt/gravel roads, rain and snow and these tires hold up better than all the rest.

Great tires, I have run two sets, looking for my third!

I run these tires on my Dodge Ram 3500 4x4 Cummins Quad Cab. It's my second set now , I get about 80,000 km's out of them now and I'm just looking here to see size options as I'm going to need to replace them before the snow flys. I have considered other tires but in the end I'm not prepared to put up with any tire noise or ride issues. These Defenders are amazing, quiet, smooth, accurate, great traction in wet, snow, mud. Just need to find a dealer that can get me a good price as they are expensive but they are worth it for sure. My truck was stock with 265-70-17, but I have been running 285-70-17 with amazing results, my truck when not pulling a trailer will get 10.2 Lphkm, about 29 mpg at 110 kph.

Best tire for your daily driver Truck!

I had these tire on my 2014 F150 FX4 and they were the best tires I've ever had. Smooth and quiet but still offered great grip in rain, snow and light off-roading. The best part is I got well over the 70,000 miles they are guaranteed for and probably could have gone further but I was taking a trip and wanted fresh tires. I hope they make an EV rated version of this tire for my next truck before the factory tires need replacement. If they do I'm in!

worst Michelin tire I ever had

I've had these tires on my 2015 F250 since July , thought maybe they would get better but no hope. I've bought Michelins for the last 23 yrs , a new set about every 14-15 months. These Defenders are worse tires ever , VERY bad ride , I always bought Michelin for the soft ride and road handling. But never another set of Defenders. If the didn't cost so much I would change them out now.

Balance Problems

Bought a set of these Oct 2018 for my 2015 Ram 2500 to replace the Firestone OE tires at 25784 miles. DOT codes B71500AX0218,0318,5017,&5017. OK on backroads which is most of use, but very bad vibration at highway speeds 70-80mph. Checked alignment and checked for bent wheel - all ok. Rebalanced a month later at 27552 miles. Same problem. Rebalanced and switched Front to Rear at 28571 miles - problem almost completely cured. Rotated by dealer at 35015 miles - problem back. Rebalanced and switched front to rear at 36693 miles and again problem improved to acceptable level. Dealer rotated again at 40488 miles and problem on Interstates back as bad as ever. Rebalanced and swapped front to rear again and again acceptable at 42991 miles. Put 100k miles on F250 with previous design and never had a problem. Put 260k miles on 4 sets of Michelins on 2006 Toyota Avalon - no problem. Put 100k so far on Michelins on 2015 Avalon and 45k on 2019 Sequoia - again no problem - so it has to be something in at least one of the Defender LTX tires most likely one of the ones currently on rear. Definitely not what I expect from Michelin - Currently 45k miles on truck. Trying to figure out where to go next. Not happy with Defenders.

Very Dissappointed in these tires! Horrible Vibrations!

Michelin devotee for 30 years. Put these on my F250 truck to replace previous LTX/MS tires since these were no longer available and the new Defender line was touted as soooo much better. Immediately these tires shook my vehicle as though they were unbalanced. I had them rechecked for and they were properly balanced. Secondly, these tires also vibrate on paved roads as if they were knobby style tires or if the lug nuts were loose. They make it seem as though something is wrong with my vehicle.I hate these tires and now I'm stuck with them. I have less than 1000 miles on them. Not up to the quality of what Michelin has previously stood for.

Just Love Michelin

Replaced my Michelin Latitude Tour HPs (after 50,000 miles) on my 2009 Acura MDX with the four new Defender LTX MS. Have had them for only a month now, but really like them. Smooth, quiet, and seem to hug the road well in wet and dry conditions. Have driven them on highway and city....perform well in both instances.

Grumpy from Simi Valley, CA

Been riding on Michelin LTX MS and MS2 tires for over 30 years. Love the deep tread and handling. Whether I'm driving my 03 Suburban, 04 Jeep , or my 05 RV with 22.5 XZE and now XZE2 highway tires they all handle well in all types of weather including snow and ice. Even the XZE's handle well in a foot of snow and I really appreciate the high scrub sidewalls. Keep up the good work. Thank you.

Best wet and dry road performance.

I purchased primarily for the wet/dry road performance. The tires which came with my new car were replaced by these because Florida driving requires the best of wet and dry road performance. These Michelin's were the answer to my problem. This is the second set that I purchased, the first set performed well to the end.

Great Tires

Drove a 2014 CX-5 with Defender LTX M/S tires, went up 10 mils to 235 due to OEM tires being 225. Put 63,000 miles on the CX-5 with these tires and loved them. Traveled from northern Illinois to Florida (Naples) and Colorado (Winter Park) to visit family a few times, and many times up to Wisconsin for fishing or skiing. Perfect traction in snow, good solid ride, no hydroplaning in heavy rain. I do not trust the reviews I read about load tires and bad milage. Just traded the CX-5 in last week for a 2022 Rav4 XSE Hybrid. Picked it up on Saturday and had the comfort tires replaced with LTX M/S tires (again at plus 10 mils) on Monday. Better, more responsive and solid ride, and had a nice snowstorm on Thursday to really try them out. Great tires.
