great if you want gas leaking all over the place
Took off and reapplied the cap multiple times, and it still leaks. Wish I could return but currently full of gas. now I have to find a non leaking gas can to transfer it to.

too much trouble
its ergonomically incorrect. 1)you have to hold it while pouring (5 gal of gas 30lbs). 2) one hand on the unnecessarily awkward trigger. 3) the nozzle is too short to put gas in your car.
Hi Rob - We apologize for your experience. Customer satisfaction is very important to Scepter. Similar to medication packaging, gas/diesel cans must also adhere to strict child resistance packaging laws. All fuel containers sold in the United States must come equipped with a child-safety lock and adhere to environmental regulations (EPA). Unfortunately, the dark green tab is part of the child safety lock mechanism and cannot be fixed to remain open. This product should only be used with the spout it came with at the time of purchase. Every automobile/equipment is different, so it is not a one size fits all situation. There is a funnel available directly from Scepter that can be used in conjunction with the SMART CONTROL SPOUT that may help. The SMARTCONTROL gas can, is designed to be used with your palm. Step 1: Vent the fuel can by slowly unscrewing the cap, allow all the pressure to escape. Once vented re-tighten cap. You may find that placing the fuel can flat on the ground and actuating the spout once or twice prior to use may allow the green pad to slide easier during operation. Step 2: Flip up dark lever on back of spout with your palm. Step 3: With the dark green lever still flipped up, push the entire light green pad forward. It will be stiff as that is part of the child resistant feature. Again, you may find that placing the fuel can flat on the ground and actuating the spout once or twice prior to use may allow the green pad to slide easier during operation. Step 4: Tilt can and pour. This can has a flow rate of 3+ gallons per minute when actuated fully. The “screen” you see in the neck of the fuel can is actually a safety device called a flame mitigation device (FMD). Its inclusion in fuel containers is part of a 2020 U.S. law to improve overall safety. It does not make it safe to mix Gas and Fire, which remains extremely dangerous, but helps to protect the consumer against situations of potential misuse. Do not ever remove or modify the FMD. We understand that filling the containers now requires the user to learn to rest the pump in the center of the FMD, on the steps, to fill at full speed. The spout has a channel for venting when pouring. You can also choose simply to take your time filling the container. We have posted both fill and pour instructions online at https://www.scepter.com/safety/instructional-videos/ which should help. Please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-387-6018 or email customerservice@scepter.com if we can be of any further assistance or if you would like us to send you a funnel. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There is a screen in the container that you can not take out. If it does screen anything, that will end up in the tank when you fill.

What the heck no cap???
I literally still can’t believe that they sent a gasoline can with no top. I can’t even use it. They literally stuck a piece of tape over the top of the can and there’s no spout or spill prevention.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Cheap plastic, not very sturdy. Hard to push the gas release button while tipping and pouring the gas into the tank.

Really Impressed With Gas Containers Ease of Use
I bought 2 of these gas containers for my portable generator of even car if we run low on gas. I have another brand and these hands down are much easier to use. I may go buy another to replace the older one I have.

It’s emergency
It’s good to have this for emergencies or winter storm for our generator that the nozzle itself would be difficult to use, if trying to pour into a lawnmower

It will be a fine gas can once I replace the spout
It's not walmart's fault, it's the government's. But of new spouts that meet regulation (for what I'm not sure) this spout is horrendous, good at getting gas everywhere except where you want it.
