I'll admit that I like "Barkthins" and originally bought them at Sams in the past. They were then superseded by the above "Member's Mark" product, and a poor substitution it is. The original product is thicker with more almonds and a more distinct taste to the dark chocolate. The MM product is thinner which makes the "bite" of the piece of candy less distinct. The flavor is also less appealing. All in all, a private label substitution which is a downgrade in all aspects other than price. It certainly is cheaper than the original! So I have switched to buying my Barkthins at Walmart. I guess John Ruskin was correct when he said "There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price only are this man's lawful prey."

AMAZING product! Knowing that dark chocolate is actually healthy, but the bitterness of dark chocolate is unbearable, Member’s Mark has come out with an amazing combination to offset the bitterness with almonds in the bark like pieces are very satisfying to anyone’s pallet and now added to the grocery list.

I bought these specifically because this picture shows a label that does not contain milk in the ingredients or allergen statement. The bag I received from my pick up order is exactly the same except milk is listed on the label in the ingredients and allergen statement. Thankfully, I always double check labels. They must have changed the recipe, but they need to update the picture when that happens.
